Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Damien Roads (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hitmon Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hitmon Lee has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Damien Roads!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hitmon Lee!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roads steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lee.
Lee moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Lee lands with an overhand left.
Roads misses the shot to the body.
Roads throws a body shot but no joy.
Lee ducks under a wild hook from Roads.
Roads takes one to the side of the head.
Roads looks to land a right hand but Lee moved out of range.
Lee shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Roads but Roads pushes him off and we're back to square one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lee connects with a leg kick. Roads looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

A nice inside leg kick there by Lee. That's going to slow Roads down.

Roads misses with a body shot.
Roads jabs Lee to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Lee avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

and Lee counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Roads!
Roads wants to control but Lee postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roads tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lee wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Lee tries to score with some ground and pound. Roads controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Lee thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Roads tries to improve position but can't.
Roads is working hard here to advance position.
Lee is looking to take a break and control but Roads is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lee has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Roads sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Lee prevents Roads from standing back up.
Lee working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Roads tries to get to full guard but Lee has control of the leg.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Lee lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Lee is working for a kimura but Roads is defending it quite comfortably.
Roads wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Roads ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Roads misses with a wild body shot.
Roads drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Roads moves out of range of the leg kick from Lee.
Lee's coach down at Animal House was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Lee's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Roads throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Lee misses with a hook. Roads ducked under it nicely.
It looked like Roads was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Lee.

Roads moves away from the strike by Lee.

Roads tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lee was well out of range. Poor timing from Roads.
Hitmon Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lee feints and as Roads raises his hands in defense, Lee changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lee makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Roads pulls Lee in close to prevent any damage.

Lee with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Roads working a defensive guard but Lee passes into half guard.
Lee not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Lee passes the guard and advances to mount!
Hitmon Lee has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lee can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Roads is looking to escape.

Lee landing strikes from the mount and Roads is in trouble!
Lee won't let Roads get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Lee has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Roads's face.


Roads is rocked!

Lee swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Roads is now in Lee's guard. A big mistake from Lee there, giving up the dominant position!
Oh Roads is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Lee has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Roads can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Roads seems to have got his legs back now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lee bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Roads's guard.

Lee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Roads swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lee controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Roads bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lee's guard.

Hitmon Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Lee cracks Roads with a right hand to the side of the head.

Roads drops Lee with a beautiful combination! Lee stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Roads is looking for the KO!

Roads tries to bum rush Lee with a series of wild strikes but Lee uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Roads swings for the body but Lee moves out of range.
Lee is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Roads defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lee.
Lee scores with a head kick. Roads tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Lee decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Roads kicks off Lee and gets to his feet.
Lee ducks under a wild hook from Roads.
Lee moves away from the strike by Roads.
A big left from Lee misses.
Lee uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Roads.

Roads clobbers Lee with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Lee throws an off balance right hand
and Roads cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Lee's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Lee duly obliges.
Lee tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Roads drops Lee with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Lee looks back up at him and smiles so Roads waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Lee is still on wobbly legs! Can Roads finish him?
Roads measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Lee! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Damien Roads!
An out of breath Damien Roads thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
