Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tadeusz Ostrowski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anthony Pettis! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ostrowski fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Pettis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pettis wants it to stay on the feet. Pettis lands a jab-cross combination. Ostrowski shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pettis manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Ostrowski postures up.
Ostrowski might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Ostrowski thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Pettis has his foot on Ostrowski's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ostrowski works his way back into a safe position though. Pettis told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ostrowski stopping the sweep attempt from Pettis. Pettis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ostrowski is aware though and is defending well. Pettis manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pettis throws a series of punches but Ostrowski avoids them all with ease.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ostrowski misses with a takedown attempt - Pettis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tadeusz Ostrowski. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ostrowski misses with a takedown and Pettis counters with a three punch combo that has Ostrowski backing up. Ostrowski nods at Pettis to acknowledge the strikes. Pettis works over Ostrowski's head and body with a nice combination. Ostrowski dodges the punch combination from Pettis.
Pettis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Pettis moves out of range of the body kick. Pettis lands a head shot. Pettis throws a nice inside leg kick. Ostrowski gets the takedown into side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ostrowski tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ostrowski has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ostrowski in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Pettis is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
