Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Elvin Mays! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Lee! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee connects with a right hand. Mays shakes it off. Lee swings for the body but Mays moves out of range.
Lee scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Mays misses with an uppercut. Mays uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lee. Lee keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lee fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Mays looks to land a left hand but Lee moved out of range nicely. Mays uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lee. Mays jabs Lee right on the nose. Lee blinks but takes it well. Lee looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Lee wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lee tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mays was well out of range. Poor timing from Lee. Mays is looking to counter punch. Mays throws a jab but it's blocked by Lee. Mays slips under a jab from Lee. A quick step to the side and Mays tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Mays gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Lee catches Mays with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
That's one minute gone in the round. Mays throws a hook but Lee avoids it easily. Lee swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Lee's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Lee duly obliges. Mays looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Mays misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lee.
Lee darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Mays with a jab. Lee slips under a jab. Lee let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Lee keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mays. Mays takes a swing at Lee's ribcage but misses. It seemed like Lee was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Mays avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Mays was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Mays misses with a hook

Lee cracks Mays with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Lee with a jab. Lee has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Mays displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lee throws out the jab. Lee uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mays. A little jabbing left from Lee on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Lee slips a jab from Mays. Lee throws a series of punches but Mays moves out of range. Mays jabs Lee to the body, keeping him at a distance. Lee is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Nice body punch from Lee. Mays throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mays throws a body punch but Lee moves out of range. Lee is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Mays had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. A cross from Lee lands. Lee takes a swing at Mays's ribcage but misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee throws a body shot but no joy. Mays throwing a counter right hand but Lee manages to avoid it. Mays shoots in and gets a takedown into Lee's guard. Mays prevents Lee from getting back to his feet. Mays working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Lee's head. Mays thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Lee wants to stand but Mays is controlling the position. Lee has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Mays off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Lee keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lee jabbing away but nothing is landing. Mays rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
enabling Lee to counter with a crisp jab. Lee scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Mays throws a shot from downtown. Lee moves away and avoids it. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The fighters circling - Mays throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lee keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lee swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Mays rushes Lee with punches - Lee moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Lee goes down! Mays follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Elvin Mays! Elvin Mays retains his middleweight title! Elvin Mays very nearly forgot to thank KaotiK amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you. The defeated Kevin Lee had this to say: 'I'll be back!'.
