Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Aaron Work! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bobby Vindben! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Work has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Work there as he acknowledges the shot. Work shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vindben pinned against the cage. Vindben gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Work closes the distance and clinches. Vindben tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Vindben misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Work manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Vindben breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Work pushes Vindben up against the cage in a clinch. Vindben lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Work. Vindben's coach down at Cozad MMA Helsinki was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Vindben's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Work is breathing heavily. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Vindben. Vindben manages to break the clinch.
Vindben rushes Work and presses him up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Vindben. Work definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Vindben breaks from the clinch.
Vindben fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Work, pushing him back against the cage. Vindben breaks from the clinch.
Vindben feints a jab promting Work to slip. Vindben then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Work slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Vindben lands a nice leg kick that just misses Work's sensitive parts. Vindben closes the distance and clinches. Work tries to pull guard but Vindben won't allow it.
Vindben lands a knee to the head.

Vindben lands a left hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Vindben manages to break the clinch.
Vindben sends Work crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Vindben is motioning to the referee to let Work up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Work is rocked! Vindben clinches up against the cage. Oh Work is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Vindben's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A nice inside leg kick there by Vindben. That's going to slow Work down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vindben clinches up against the cage. Vindben lands a hook to the side of the head. Vindben loads up on a right hand - it lands flush and knocks Work senseless! What a punch!
