Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joey Mandana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bo Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joey Mandana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bo Hicks! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hicks closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Mandana can't get the takedown.
Mandana gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hicks.
Hicks tries to pull guard but Mandana holds him up against the cage and eventually Hicks drops back down to his feet.
Mandana is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Mandana gets a trip takedown into half guard. Mandana is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hicks should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Mandana perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hicks is trying to get back to full guard. Hicks really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mandana. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mandana sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Hicks defending well though. Hicks pushes Mandana off looking to stand but Mandana dives back in and keeps control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mandana seems to be working for a kimura but Hicks defends the submission attempt. Mandana wants to free his trapped foot but Hicks is holding on for dear life with his legs. Hicks trying to control from the bottom.
Mandana has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Hicks is staying active underneath Mandana, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Hicks trying to control from the bottom.
Mandana wants to free his trapped foot but Hicks is holding on for dear life with his legs. Mandana is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Hicks!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mandana throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Hicks tries to lock up and control but Mandana gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Mandana punching from mount but Hicks doing a good job of avoiding damage. Mandana has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Hicks blocking the ground and pound. Mandana unloads with some shots from mount but Hicks bucks and avoids them well.
Mandana tries to control but Hicks wriggling away. Mandana looking to control and managing it successfully. Mandana wants to control the pace but Hicks is squirming around nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mandana throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Mandana tries to control but Hicks wriggling away. Mandana throwing strikes here but Hicks is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Mandana throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Mandana working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Hicks turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Mandana off and cradles Hicks's limp body as Mandana celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Joey Mandana!
