Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jamie Patton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Julek La Cruz! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Chad Campbell and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Patton closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Patton fails to pull the fight into his guard.
La Cruz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Patton pulls him back up using the underhooks. La Cruz pulls guard successfully.
Patton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. La Cruz wants to sweep here but Patton controlling him for the moment. Patton has gone for a leg lock! La Cruz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Patton's guard. La Cruz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. La Cruz gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patton tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. La Cruz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Jamie Patton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. La Cruz keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Both fighters circling a little - Patton finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Patton wants to clinch up but La Cruz keeps it at a distance. Patton fails in his attempt to clinch. Patton has taken the fight to the clinch.
La Cruz successfully pulls guard.
La Cruz tries to land a sweep but no joy. Patton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. La Cruz is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Patton seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. La Cruz looking for a sweep. Not yet La Cruz, not yet. La Cruz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. La Cruz looking for a sweep. Not yet La Cruz, not yet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patton darts in trying to clinch and La Cruz counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Patton closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Patton fails to pull guard.
La Cruz pulls guard. Patton throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Patton drops back, looking for a kneebar! La Cruz looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. La Cruz looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from La Cruz! La Cruz has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Patton!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Patton holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as La Cruz tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. La Cruz wants to control the pace but Patton is squirming around nicely. Patton can't escape the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! La Cruz controlling his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Julek La Cruz dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Patton tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but La Cruz was well out of range. Poor timing from Patton. La Cruz steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Patton. Patton slaps away a takedown attempt from La Cruz, before circling back to the center of the mat. La Cruz shoots in looking for a takedown. Patton tries to sprawl out of it but La Cruz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Patton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. It appears Patton was looking to counter with a kick there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Horrible takedown attempt by Patton or perhaps it was just good defense by La Cruz, which made it look bad. La Cruz moves into range and clinches up with Patton.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patton is trying to pull guard but La Cruz has him pressed against the cage. Patton is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but La Cruz is keeping busy. We've been informed that La Cruz has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. La Cruz jumps into guard, dragging Patton to the mat.
La Cruz is adopting a defensive guard. Patton looking to sit in guard and control but La Cruz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Patton is looking for a triangle but La Cruz pushes his legs off easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Patton keeping moving, preventing La Cruz from controlling successfully. Patton has his foot on La Cruz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. La Cruz works his way back into a safe position though. La Cruz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Patton throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Patton moves in looking to clinch but La Cruz pushes him off. La Cruz wants to counter the offense by Patton and move into the clinch position. Patton tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Patton sets himself, and La Cruz steps forward looking for the clinch! Patton avoids it this time. Patton wants to clinch. Patton tries to clinch but La Cruz moves out of range. La Cruz throws a counter combo. La Cruz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Patton has La Cruz pressed against the cage, preventing La Cruz from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Patton doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamie Patton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Patton is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables La Cruz to keep the fight standing. Patton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. La Cruz is trying to drag Patton to the mat but Patton just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. La Cruz drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Julek La Cruz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Nice straight punches there by La Cruz. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of La Cruz. Patton throws a sloppy head kick and La Cruz moves out of range easily.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Patton shoots in and bounces La Cruz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. La Cruz has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Patton has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Patton blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Patton is trying to pull guard but La Cruz turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamie Patton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. La Cruz pulls guard. Patton trying to control but La Cruz is working from the bottom. La Cruz pulls Patton in close to prevent any damage. La Cruz pushes Patton off and gets back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Patton throws a body kick, spinning off balance and La Cruz counters with a three punch combo that has Patton backing up. Patton nods at La Cruz to acknowledge the strikes. Patton closes the distance and clinches up with La Cruz, looking for a takedown. Patton pushes La Cruz against the cage but La Cruz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Julek La Cruz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got La Cruz winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
