Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Mendez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Oscar Knockout! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knockout misses with a straight left. Knockout uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mendez has time to react.
It looks like George Mendez has been cut. Mendez shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. A punch lands to the side of Knockout 's head but he takes it in his stride. Knockout slips under a jab from Mendez. Mendez lands a slapping body shot.
Knockout ducks under a wild hook from Mendez. Knockout lands a jab to the nose. Knockout throws a series of punches but Mendez avoids them all with ease. Mendez was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Knockout throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Good standup being displayed there by Mendez as he connects with a hook.
It looks like Oscar Knockout has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Knockout looks to land a right hand but Mendez moved out of range. Mendez misses with a hook. Knockout ducked under it nicely. A little jabbing left from Knockout on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Knockout walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Knockout throws a leg kick which misses Mendez's front leg but catches the back leg as Mendez tries to avoid it. We've been told by Mendez's head coaches at Boston MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Knockout's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mendez connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Knockout scrambles back to his feet. Knockout blocks a low kick nicely. Knockout raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Mendez jabs Knockout to the body, keeping him at a distance. Mendez tried to score with a low kick but Knockout checks it. Knockout missing with a left hand there. Mendez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Knockout misses with a looping right. Mendez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Knockout sees it coming and avoids it easily. Knockout slips under a jab from Mendez.

Knockout looks like he wants to counter punch here. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mendez lands the left hand. We've been informed that Knockout has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. The fighters circling - Mendez throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Knockout steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mendez.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Knockout throws a lazy head kick and Mendez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Knockout misses the jab. Mendez appears to be looking for a big counter. Mendez lands the left hand. Mendez lands with a cross. Mendez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Knockout moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mendez tries a head kick but it misses.

and Mendez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Mendez thows a left - swing and a miss! Mendez swinging wildly here.
Nice defenses there by Knockout. Knockout lands with a kick to the temple. Mendez shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that George Mendez will probably get the nod. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

That has opened up Oscar Knockout's cut even more. Mendez waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Knockout. Knockout looks like he wants to counter punch here. Knockout walks into a jab. Knockout throws a head kick but Mendez moves out of range.

George Mendez's cut is getting worse. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Knockout looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Knockout throws a fast counter high kick but Mendez manages to duck under it in time. Knockout defending well as Mendez loads up on a big left hand. Knockout throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Mendez misses with a hook. Knockout ducked under it nicely. Knockout is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mendez. Mendez lands a jab. Knockout looks to throw the jab but Mendez is out of range. Knockout showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mendez.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Knockout lands with an uppercut that bounces Mendez off the cage and back into range. A jab from Knockout finds it's way through Mendez's defenses.
Mendez is rocked! Knockout dodges the punch combination from Mendez.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mendez moves away from the strike by Knockout. Knockout throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Mendez's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Knockout dives in looking to finish as Mendez flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Knockout's strikes! Knockout is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Mendez's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Mendez was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Oscar Knockout! Oscar Knockout really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that GREEN!160 logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
