Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Matthew Markson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vili Sippola!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Richard Clark and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sippola moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Sippola throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Markson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sippola is in Markson's guard.
Markson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sippola is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Sippola stands up and waves to Markson to follow him.
Vili Sippola seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sippola closes the distance and clinches.
Markson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Sippola after a bit of a struggle.
Markson is trying to pull guard but Sippola has him pressed against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sippola breaks the clinch.

Sippola fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Markson, pushing him back against the cage.

Sippola has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Markson regains guard immediately.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sippola stays in close to Markson's body and controls the position.

Sippola pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Markson is keeping the position for now.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sippola's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Markson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sippola accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sippola is pushing down on Markson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Markson is fighting to maintain full guard but Sippola has managed to sneak the leg through.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sippola looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Let's hope that Sippola has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Sippola is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Sippola has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Markson has hold of Sippola's hands but Sippola slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Sippola looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sippola lands a nice short elbow.

Sippola is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Markson trying to hold on to Sippola's head to control him but Sippola postures up.
Sippola keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Markson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Sippola.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Sippola is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sippola sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Markson is looking to control Sippola's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Markson avoid being mounted?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Markson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sippola paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sippola shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Markson counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Sippola comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Sippola dives in and scores a takedown into Markson's guard.
Sippola looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Sippola decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Markson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Markson tries to clinch up.
Markson is looking to clinch.

Sippola clinches up against the cage.
Sippola avoiding damage as Markson throws knees to the body.
Markson tries for a takedown. No joy.
Sippola avoiding damage.
Sippola misses with a knee to the head.
Sippola lands a nice uppercut.

Markson jumps guard.

Markson is trying to control the position here. Sippola has hold of a guillotine from the top though... oh, that looks naaaaasty, will Markson tap? Yes he will! The fight is all over! Sippola jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd.

After winning the bout, Vili Sippola thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
