Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roland Steele! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexei Orlov! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Ivan Kurochkin and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Orlov closes the distance and clinches. Orlov tries to land a knee to the head but Steele blocks with his arms.
Orlov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Steele fails with the takedown. Steele fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Orlov, pushing him back against the cage. Orlov throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Steeles head. Steele has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Orlov avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. The referee calls for Steele to work.
Orlov lands with a right to the head. Steele is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Orlov is defending well for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Steele scores with a hook to the body. Steele is working for takedown but Orlov is calmly controlling the position for now. Orlov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Orlov drives through and clinches with Steele against the cage.

Steele goes for a double leg but Orlov avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Orlov continues to drive forward. Orlov misses with a series of wild punches.
Steele looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. Steele shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Steele will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Steele is looking to work some ground and pound but Orlov has wrist control. Steele has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Steele stands up over Orlov, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Steele accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Orlov wants to get back to full guard but Steele has passed into side control. Steele lands a decent elbow from side control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Orlov managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Steele.

Roland Steele dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Steele shoots for a double leg takedown but Orlov sprawls well. He's pushed Steele's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Orlov closes the distance and clinches. Orlov throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Steele blocks it with crossed arms. Steele misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Orlov.

Steele pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Steele shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Orlov defends it nicely. Orlov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Steele shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. As Steele backs off Orlov throws a huge counter combo but Steele manages to avoid it all. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roland Steele. That's going to take a lot out of him. Steele shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Steele was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's one minute gone in the round. Steele connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Orlov some visible discomfort.
Orlov is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Orlov takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Orlov takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Steele cracks Orlov with an elbow. That is naaassty.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Orlov is trying to control Steele's posture but Steele avoids it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Steele postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Steele tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Steele stands up and we're back to a striking position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steele shoots in and gets a takedown into Orlov's guard. Steele gets to his feet - Orlov follows without any prompting. Steele closes the distance and pushes Orlov back into the cage. Steele slows down the pace here.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Roland Steele. I think Steele has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
