Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kurly Kanga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shun Watanabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shun Watanabe will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kurly Kanga! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shun Watanabe! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Eliza Hachem and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Watanabe works the jab nicely. Kanga moves into the clinch. Kanga throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Watanabes head. Watanabe misses with a punch to the body.
Kanga jumps guard and drags Watanabe to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Kanga wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Watanabe wants to control from the top but Kanga keeps moving. Kanga utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kanga keeping moving, preventing Watanabe from controlling successfully. Watanabe throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kanga works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kanga seems keen to control Watanabe's posture. Kanga working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Watanabe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Watanabe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Watanabe wants to control from the top but Kanga keeps moving. Kanga looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. A swing and a miss from Watanabe. Kanga avoids a punch combination nicely.
Watanabe drives through with a takedown into Kanga's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Watanabe trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Kanga has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Watanabe slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Watanabe trying to control the action but Kanga is working from the bottom. Watanabe is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kanga has escaped the position, nice work there. Watanabe wants to control but Kanga is keeping him busy. Watanabe throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Kanga works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kanga tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Watanabe has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Watanabe is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kanga can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Kanga on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kanga tries to get out of the position. Poor strikes thrown by Watanabe there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Watanabe trying to control but he's not successful this time. Kanga is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've been informed that Watanabe has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Watanabe wants to control the pace but Kanga is squirming around nicely. Watanabe working for a submission but Kanga is keeping him at bay. Watanabe throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Kanga knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Watanabe on the ground. Kanga is squirming around, avoiding Watanabe's attempts to control the action. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kanga is trying to escape the mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kanga is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Watanabe has taken his back.
Kanga can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shun Watanabe dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Watanabe lands with an uppercut that bounces Kanga off the cage and back into range. Kanga dives in for a single leg takedown but Watanabe sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Kanga shoots in and bounces Watanabe off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Watanabe working for a triangle but Kanga defends it easily.

Kanga stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Watanabe swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Watanabe is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Watanabe pushes a forearm under Kanga's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Kanga is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Shun Watanabe! Shun Watanabe decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
