Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Arthur Carvalho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Aaron Hawryluk!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawryluk throws a lazy uppercut

and Carvalho counters with a takedown into side control.
Hawryluk wants to get back to his feet.
Carvalho working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Carvalho tries to move to mount but Hawryluk blocks the move with his legs.

Carvalho looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Hawryluk pushes Carvalho away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Carvalho gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carvalho tries for a kimura but Hawryluk is defending well.

Carvalho tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Hawryluk parries the strikes from Carvalho easily there. Carvalho is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hawryluk to escape.
Carvalho has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hawryluk wants to get back to his feet.
Carvalho throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Hawryluk is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Check out the look on Carvalho's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Carvalho works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Hawryluk is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Carvalho is controlling him well.
Carvalho tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Carvalho throws an elbow but Hawryluk slips to the side and avoids it well.
Carvalho is looking to take a break and control but Hawryluk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hawryluk is trying to buck Carvalho off.
Hawryluk gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Carvalho goes for an armbar but Hawryluk turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Hawryluk.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Carvalho working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hawryluk doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hawryluk manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Carvalho wants to sweep here but Hawryluk controlling him for the moment.
Hawryluk wants to stand but Carvalho is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Carvalho is pulling down on Hawryluk's head to control his posture.

Carvalho has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Hawryluk should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Carvalho has tightened it up now! Hawryluk should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Arthur Carvalho!
