Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Rodriguez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike King!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Franklyn Lucas and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King tries to clinch but Rodriguez moves away
and Rodriguez counters with a nice uppercut.
King tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Rodriguez counters with a left to the body.

King darts in and clinches Rodriguez up against the cage.
King can't break the clinch.

Rodriguez breaks the clinch.

Oooh a lovely combination from King sends Rodriguez down but not out. King dives into side control looking to finish.


Rodriguez is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rodriguez gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Oh Rodriguez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are battling for position here. Rodriguez manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Rodriguez seems to have got his legs back now.

Rodriguez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
King stands up over Rodriguez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Rodriguez wants to take a breather but King is having none of it.
Rodriguez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rodriguez not landing any meaningful shots this time.

King has one foot on Rodriguez's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Mike King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
King throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rodriguez is looking for a counter combo.
King scores with a crisp jab that stopped Rodriguez in his tracks.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
King misses with a series of wild punches.
Rodriguez was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Horrible takedown attempt by Rodriguez or perhaps it was just good defense by King, which made it look bad.

King pushes Rodriguez up against the cage in a clinch.

King wriggles free and stands up.

King throws a combination that misses
and Rodriguez counters with an inside leg kick.
King darts in trying to clinch
and Rodriguez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown but King shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rodriguez is breathing heavily.

King clinches.

King escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
King is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Rodriguez slips a jab and a cross from King.
King tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
King throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rodriguez was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Rodriguez walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

A jab-cross combination lands for King and sends Rodriguez crashing to the mat! King follows him down to the mat - Rodriguez regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rodriguez won't allow King to pass to mount.
King throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
King looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Rodriguez trying to control here.
Rodriguez flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Rodriguez moves into full guard.
King throws a big elbow that misses.
King looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Rodriguez trying to control the position.
King is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

King stands up over Rodriguez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
King is working Rodriguez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike King dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


King tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rodriguez paws at him with a jab and circles away.
King misses with a double jab

so Rodriguez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Rodriguez looking to sit in guard and control but King gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
King loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Rodriguez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
King has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rodriguez is proving hard to escape from.
King scoring with some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rodriguez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. King manages to get himself to full guard.

Rodriguez with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rodriguez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
King will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Rodriguez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as King works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rodriguez slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from King.
King lands a couple of sideways elbows.
Rodriguez throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rodriguez not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Rodriguez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed King's head.
Rodriguez stops King from getting back to his feet.
Mike King has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rodriguez thows a huge punch but King dodges it nicely.
King has hold of Rodriguez's hands but Rodriguez slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

King looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
King is trying to get back to full guard.

Rodriguez is looking for a kimura but King is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rodriguez to get the leverage.
King wants to control but Rodriguez is keeping busy and won't allow it.
King is looking to improve his position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
King tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rodriguez paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rodriguez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. King tries to avoid it but Rodriguez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag King to the ground. King escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
King Rushes Rodriguez and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Rodriguez is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. King Piles on the pressure and Rodriguez crumples to the floor! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike King!
