PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marc Du Vale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruno Santoyo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santoyo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Roots Bloody Roots. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Bruno Santoyo enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marc Du Vale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bruno Santoyo!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Du Vale with a nice cross.
Santoyo walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Du Vale checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Du Vale really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Santoyo gets a double leg takedown into Du Vale's guard.
Santoyo postures up in Du Vale's guard and throws a big left but Du Vale blocks it.
Santoyo stops Du Vale from standing up.
Santoyo wants to pass the guard but Du Vale is keeping the position.
Du Vale wants to stand up but Santoyo is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santoyo chips away with some ground and pound.
Santoyo stays in close to Du Vale's body and controls the position.
Santoyo prevents Du Vale from getting back to his feet.

Santoyo is standing up over Du Vale. Du Vale looks to escape but Santoyo dives into side control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Marc Du Vale is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Du Vale.

Santoyo gets a clinch.
Santoyo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Du Vale fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Du Vale moves in looking to clinch but Santoyo pushes him off.
Santoyo on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Du Vale. Du Vale obviously looking to wear him down.
Du Vale scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Santoyo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Santoyo pushes Du Vale up against the cage in a clinch.
Santoyo keeps control of Du Vale as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Santoyo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Du Vale lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Santoyo fails with the takedown
and Santoyo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Marc Du Vale has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruno Santoyo.

Santoyo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Du Vale's half guard.
Du Vale knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Santoyo on the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Du Vale manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Santoyo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Du Vale sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Santoyo somewhat.
Du Vale throws a big counter combination but Santoyo scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Santoyo gets a clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Santoyo takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
We've been informed that Santoyo has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Santoyo keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Du Vale's efforts to push away.
Du Vale tries to break free but Santoyo pushes him back against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Du Vale wants to get back to striking at distance but Santoyo won't allow it.

Santoyo jumps guard and drags Du Vale to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Santoyo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Santoyo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Du Vale is one step ahead there.
Santoyo is still trying to improve position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Du Vale being controlled here momentarily.
Santoyo throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Marc Du Vale will probably get the nod.
That's time! Du Vale's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Du Vale counters with a one-two to the body.

and Du Vale makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Santoyo gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Santoyo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Du Vale fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Du Vale sizes up Santoyo with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Du Vale gets tackled into the cage by Santoyo. Santoyo maintains the clinch.

Du Vale breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Du Vale lands a leg kick that knocks Santoyo off balance momentarily.

Santoyo fails with a takedown attempt.
Du Vale lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Du Vale keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Santoyo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Du Vale counters with a left and a right that stings Santoyo.
Bruno Santoyo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Du Vale closes the distance looking to clinch

and Santoyo counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Du Vale pushes Santoyo off but Santoyo dives into side control.
Santoyo scoring with punches from side control.

Santoyo tries for a kimura but Du Vale is defending well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A lull in the action here.

Du Vale is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Santoyo working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Santoyo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Du Vale has escaped the position, nice work there.
Santoyo controls the position from side control.
Du Vale wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Santoyo looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Du Vale is avoiding damage well.
Du Vale takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Santoyo tries for a kimura but Du Vale is defending well.
Santoyo is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Du Vale will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Santoyo in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Du Vale is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Bruno Santoyo!
