Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Farinola!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Atanase Teodor!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, David Schapiro and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Farinola tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Teodor manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Farinola shoots for a takedown but Teodor saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Farinola tries to score a power double leg takedown but Teodor sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Farinola somewhat.
Farinola is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Farinola closes this distance looking for a takedown but Teodor circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Farinola. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Teodor throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Good work by Teodor as he checks the leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Farinola takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Farinola fails in his attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Farinola looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Teodor moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Teodor's coach down at Darkness (B613) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Teodor's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Teodor plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
A head kick from Teodor lands but Farinola takes it in his stride.
Farinola is rocked!
Farinola dives in and grabs Teodor's left leg, looking for a takedown. Teodor pushes down on Farinola's head and hops out.
Oh Farinola is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Teodor scoring well with a low kick there.
Farinola seems to have got his legs back now.
The fighters circle, before Teodor throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Farinola's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Teodor lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Atanase Teodor!
In defeat, Frank Farinola stepped up to the mic, saying 'I would like to thank my fight club and my fans for the support and look forward to coming back even better.'.
