PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pai Mei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Cotto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Miguel Cotto!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Franklyn Lucas and Alyssa Summers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cotto scores with a jab to the jaw.
Cotto takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Cotto lands a jab to the nose.
Mei connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Cotto's hands.
Mei scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Cotto ducks under a wild hook from Mei.
Mei throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cotto on the side of the head.
Mei lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Cotto at a distance.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A telegraphed right hand from Cotto misses the target.
Cotto looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Cotto moves away from the strike by Mei.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Cotto! But no joy.
Cotto moves out of range as Mei strikes.
Cotto lands an overhand right.
Mei misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cotto.
Cotto throws a hook but Mei avoids it easily.
Mei misses with a wild body shot.
Cotto digs a good body shot into Mei's ribs.
Cotto scores with the left hand. Mei knows he should have avoided that one.

Mei is rocked!
Cotto cracks Mei with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Mei tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Cotto pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Mei is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Miguel Cotto!
A relieved looking Miguel Cotto thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
