Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jack Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugh Janus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Janus is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bodyjar - Not The Same. The key to victory for Jack Kimura has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hugh Janus!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Janus looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kimura is fending him off so far but Janus persists. Nope, Kimura circles away and we're back to standing.
Janus misses with a lunging right hand
letting Kimura counter with a right hand.
Janus throws a big shot that misses.
Kimura changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Janus throws a big shot that misses.
Kimura attempts a counter takedown but Janus avoids it well and moves away.
Kimura moves away from the strike by Janus.
Janus bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kimura looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Janus misses the jab.
Horrible takedown attempt by Janus or perhaps it was just good defense by Kimura, which made it look bad.
Janus looks to throw the jab but Kimura is out of range.
An attempted straight right counter from Kimura misses the target.

Kimura tries to sprawl but Janus drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Janus works his way into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Janus tries to move to full mount but Kimura actually manages to regain half guard.
Kimura is looking to control Janus's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kimura avoid being mounted?

Janus seems to be working for a kimura but Kimura defends the submission attempt.

Janus prevents Kimura from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Janus is working for a kimura but Kimura is defending it quite comfortably.

Janus is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Kimura is not content to let Janus control the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Janus is pressing down on Kimura's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kimura is holding on for now.

Janus is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Janus trying to pass the guard but Kimura defending well.
Kimura is refusing to be controlled, as Janus sits in half guard.
Kimura trying to control here.
Kimura preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Kimura is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Janus is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Janus moves into full mount! Kimura won't be happy about that!
Janus can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kimura is looking to escape.
Janus wants to control but instead Kimura manages to regain half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kimura moves into full guard.
Janus pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kimura is keeping the position for now.
Janus trying to control but Kimura is working from the bottom.

Janus got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kimura has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Janus has managed to get both his arms back between Kimura's legs - danger averted.
Janus pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kimura is keeping the position for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kimura looking for a sweep. Not yet Kimura, not yet.

Kimura throws his legs up looking for a submission but Janus uses it to pass to side control.
Janus trying to control the position but Kimura is working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hugh Janus dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Janus misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kimura was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Janus pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A big right from Janus misses.
Janus looks to land a right hand but Kimura moved out of range.
Janus loads up on a big right hand but Kimura slips the punch.
Kimura tries to score a power double leg takedown but Janus sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kimura somewhat.
Nice defenses there by Kimura.
It looked like Kimura was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Janus.
A jab from Janus does it's job there.
Janus swinging wildly here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Janus throws out a loose jab but Kimura uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kimura lands with a good body shot.
A slow jab from Janus misses its intended target.
Kimura fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Janus manages to avoid it.
Hugh Janus seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Janus avoids the body shot from Kimura.

Kimura uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Janus.
Kimura half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Janus misses with a hook
letting Kimura counter with a right hand.
Janus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kimura as he avoids it easily.
Kimura changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Janus misses with an uppercut

and Kimura counters with a single leg into guard. Janus didn't expect that.
Janus keeping moving, preventing Kimura from controlling successfully.

Janus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kimura doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Janus is tightening it up a little... Kimura has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Kimura reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Kimura taps out! Nice BJJ there by Janus!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Hugh Janus!
After the fight, Hugh Janus was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
