Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcin Kowalski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerico Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jerico Mendez has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Marcin Kowalski's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marcin Kowalski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jerico Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Winston Alpacca and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez goes for a double leg but Kowalski avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kowalski continues to drive forward.
Mendez tries to clinch but Kowalski is having none of it.

Kowalski forces Mendez back against the cage and clinches.

Kowalski lands a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Mendez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kowalski controls the pace.
Kowalski is pushing down on Mendez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mendez is fighting to maintain full guard but Kowalski has managed to sneak the leg through.

Kowalski is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kowalski is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kowalski is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mendez defends it well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kowalski is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kowalski is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mendez flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Kowalski is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mendez is just riding it out for now. Kowalski eventually gives up the hold.
Kowalski looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Kowalski is working for an americana but Mendez has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Kowalski was thinking about the submission.
Kowalski is stalling in the full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kowalski drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kowalski jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kowalski postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mendez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kowalski, into his guard.

Kowalski has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mendez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kowalski is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Kowalski's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Mendez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mendez is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Mendez stuffs the takedown.
And Mendez tries to counter it with a takedown but Kowalski pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Kowalski moves into the clinch.

Mendez is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kowalski is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Mendez to the mat. Mendez regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Mendez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kowalski controls the pace.

Kowalski thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Kowalski seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Mendez is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
