Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Black Belt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Hathaway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 20 - 0, fighting out of London, Black Belt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Hathaway!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hathaway tries to clinch up but Belt circles away and keeps his distance.
Belt is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hathaway sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Hathaway throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Belt gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Hathaway holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Hathaway stalling.

Belt has clasped his hands together around Hathaway's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Belt throws an elbow but Hathaway slips to the side and avoids it well.
Hathaway really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Belt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hathaway is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Belt is looking for a kimura here.
Belt takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Belt wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hathaway keeps working.
Belt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Belt looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hathaway manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Hathaway throws a nice looking combination but Belt bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Belt gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Hathaway has a couple of punches blocked by Belt.
Belt is pushing Hathaway up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Belt has been working on his balance at SWF GYM - JUDO 'n' MMA , so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Hathaway.
Hathaway prevents the takedown attempt.

Belt looking to stall.

Belt tries for a takedown but Hathaway manages to get underhooks.
Belt wants to take the fight to the mat but Hathaway manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Belt jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hathaway walks away with a smile on his face. Belt gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Belt steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hathaway.
Hathaway throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hathaway stuffs the takedown.
Belt tries for a takedown but Hathaway sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Hathaway throws a right hand that Belt ducks under and follows up with a left that Belt also avoids with ease.
Hathaway swinging wildly here.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Belt clinches with his opponent.
Hathaway tries to stall but Belt uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Hathaway throws an elbow but it's blocked.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hathaway.

Belt decides to pull guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hathaway wants to control from the top but Belt keeps moving.
Belt avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Belt has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hathaway can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hathaway stands and steps away. Belt gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Mike Hathaway is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Belt fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hathaway avoids it really well and circles away.
Hathaway is looking to land body kicks.
Belt drops down looking for a counter takedown but Hathaway sprawls and moves away.
Belt swats away the attempt to clinch by Hathaway.
Hathaway lands with a nice combination. Belt backs away looking to recover.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Belt.
Hathaway is looking for the big counter here.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Hathaway tries to clinch but Belt is having none of it.

Hathaway closes the distance and pushes Belt back into the cage.
Belt has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hathaway avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Belt drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hathaway working aggressively here.
Belt tries to pull guard but Hathaway forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Belt goes for a takedown attempt but Hathaway pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Belt lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hathaway backs up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hathaway tries to clinch up but Belt circles away and keeps his distance.

Belt clinches up with Hathaway and pushes him back against the cage.
Hathaway tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Hathaway dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Belt shoots in for a double leg but Hathaway sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mike Hathaway seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Belt shoots in for a takedown but Hathaway shows good takedown defense.

Hathaway gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Hathaway rushes Belt and presses him up against the cage.
Belt has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hathaway is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Hathaway breaks from the clinch.
Hathaway tries to clinch but Belt is having none of it.
Belt closes the distance and clinches up with Hathaway, looking for a takedown. Belt pushes Hathaway against the cage but Hathaway circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Belt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hathaway's waist but Hathaway gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Belt off to one side.
Black Belt is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Belt shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Hathaway clinches with his opponent.
Belt drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hathaway lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Belt backwards.

Belt dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Belt has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Hathaway after a bit of a struggle.
Belt is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Hathaway is defending well for now.

Belt manages to pull guard.

Belt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hathaway doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hathaway manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Belt throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Belt is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hathaway is aware though and is defending well.
Hathaway trying to control the position from guard on top but Belt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hathaway is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Belt is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hathaway defends well.
Hathaway must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hathaway wants to control from the top but Belt keeps moving.

Belt has his foot on Hathaway's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hathaway works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hathaway prevents Belt from improving his position.
Hathaway is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Hathaway passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Belt!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hathaway controlling the pace for now.
Hathaway's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Hathaway showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Belt tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hathaway sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Belt somewhat.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Belt.
Belt misses with a hook
and Hathaway counters with a series of strikes. Belt will be more careful next time no doubt.
Belt shoots in for a takedown but Hathaway shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Belt takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Hathaway will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hathaway scores with a sloppy right hand. Belt should have avoided that one.

Belt looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hathaway!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hathaway tries to improve position but can't.

Belt tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Belt has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hathaway is trying to control Belt's posture but Belt avoids it.

Hathaway wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Belt has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Hathaway's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Hathaway is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Belt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Black Belt!
