Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brock Cannon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rodgers Owen!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owen showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cannon.
Cannon wants to clinch.
Owen moves out of range of the strikes.
Owen throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Owen tests Cannon's chin there with a solid looking shot.
A head kick misses from Owen.
Cannon feinted with a counter takedown.
Nice cross by Owen.
Owen swats away the attempt to clinch by Cannon.
Owen throws out a counter right but Cannon avoids it with no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cannon drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cannon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Cannon wants to control from the top but Owen keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Cannon stays in close to Owen's body and controls the position.
Cannon prevents Owen from getting back to his feet.
Owen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cannon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cannon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Owen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cannon tries to roll over but Owen keeps him under control.
Owen is looking for a kimura but Cannon is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Owen to get the leverage.
Cannon looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Owen working Cannon over with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Owen seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Cannon is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
