Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Loyd Pope (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Petr Smirnov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Petr Smirnov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smirnov scores with a decent looking hook.

Smirnov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pope tries to avoid it but Smirnov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pope to the ground. Pope escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Smirnov wants the takedown. Pope is fighting it off but Smirnov persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Pope's guard against the cage.
Smirnov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pope swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Loyd Pope.
Well Smirnov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
