Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cory Snyder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronaldo Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ronaldo Diaz struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Snyder gets in close and instigates a clinch. Snyder wants to break the clinch but can't.
Diaz looking for a takedown. Snyder lands a right hand that snaps the head of Diaz backwards. Diaz prevents Snyder from breaking the clinch. Snyder digs a right hand underneath Diaz's ribcage. Diaz let out a lung full of air as it connected. Diaz looks gassed! Diaz is fighting off a takedown attempt but Snyder is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Diaz to the mat. Diaz regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Snyder has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Diaz looking for a guillotine here but Snyder defends easily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Diaz tries to hold on but Snyder postures up. Snyder looking to ground and pound but Diaz is blocking nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz is looking to get to half guard. Snyder can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Diaz is looking to escape. Snyder knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground. Snyder controlling the position easily from mount. Snyder is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Diaz can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Snyder misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Diaz bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Snyder pushes Diaz off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Ronaldo Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Snyder moves into the clinch successfully.

Diaz letting Snyder take a breather here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Snyder pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. A left lands for Snyder. Snyder fails with a takedown attempt. Snyder sizes up Diaz with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Diaz throws a right and a left that Snyder avoids nicely. A lazy left from Snyder finds it's target. Snyder lands a really nice looking cross but Diaz seems unphased.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Snyder closes the distance and clinches. A nice left hand lands by Snyder.

Diaz takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Snyder looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Diaz is fending him off so far but Snyder persists. Nope, Diaz circles away and we're back to standing. Snyder connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Diaz's hands. Snyder throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Diaz fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Diaz takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. That's going to take a lot out of Ronaldo Diaz. Snyder comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Nice sprawl there from Snyder as Diaz shoots in. Snyder has Diaz pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Snyder pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Diaz tumbling to the mat - Snyder dives into Diaz's guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Diaz is on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Snyder kicks Diaz off and gets to his feet. Snyder connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Diaz momentarily.
Snyder looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Horrible takedown by Diaz or perhaps it was just good defense by Snyder which made him look bad. Diaz takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Snyder tries to score a body lock takedown but Diaz shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Diaz shoots in and drives through. Snyder sprawls well. Snyder darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Diaz blocking the ground and pound attempt from Snyder. Snyder is trying to control the action in half guard but Diaz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Snyder thows a huge punch but Diaz dodges it nicely.

Diaz is looking for a sweep. Snyder is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Snyder fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Diaz, pushing him back against the cage. Snyder manages to break the clinch.
Snyder decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Diaz is not content to let Snyder control the position. Diaz blocking the ground and pound attempt from Snyder.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Snyder tries to stand but can't do so whilst Diaz controls his leg. Diaz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Snyder's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Snyder's back! Snyder holding both Diaz 's hands and preventing any damage. Snyder is keeping busy.
