PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tito Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Martinez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hall comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica-Nothing else matters . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tito Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hall tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Martinez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
And Martinez tries to counter it with a takedown but Hall pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Martinez swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Hall makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Martinez takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Johnny Martinez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hall throws a series of punches but Martinez avoids them all with ease.
Martinez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Hall seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Martinez swings for the body but Hall moves out of range.
It appears Hall was looking to counter with a kick there.
Martinez misses with a wild body shot.
Martinez avoids the head kick by Hall.
Martinez drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Hall defends it well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hall fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Martinez looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Martinez changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Hall connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Martinez momentarily.
Hall throws a right and a left that Martinez avoids nicely.

Hall throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Martinez cracks Hall with a good jab.
Martinez throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Hall counters with a nice uppercut.
Martinez throws a series of punches but Hall moves out of range.
We've been told by Hall's head coaches at B.P.A.: 3250+ SKILL PTS COACHES + 160Q SUPPLEMENT that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Martinez misses with a wild body shot.
Hall connects with a high kick.
Martinez throws a body shot but no joy.
Martinez throws a jab when Hall was well out of range.
A combination from Hall does no damage.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hall. Martinez does a little dance to reset his feet.
A head kick misses from Hall.
Martinez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Hall slips under a jab.
Hall tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hall misses with a jab, cross combination.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Martinez misses the shot to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Martinez. Hall does a little dance to reset his feet.
Martinez is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Hall rather than just go for the knockout.
A lazy left from Martinez finds it's target.

Hall defending well as Martinez loads up on a big left hand.
Hall pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hall fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Martinez shoots in and bounces Hall off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Martinez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Martinez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Martinez wants to pass the guard but Hall is keeping the position.

Martinez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hall is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hall has escaped and now he's on top!

Martinez is looking for a triangle but Hall pushes his legs off easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hall passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hall wants to lay and pray for a moment but Martinez keeps working.

Hall tries for a kimura but Martinez is defending well.
Martinez gets back to half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Martinez manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martinez keeping moving, preventing Hall from controlling successfully.
Hall trying to move into half guard but instead Martinez has managed to sweep!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tito Hall will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


The crowd cheers as Hall lands an impressive looking overhand right. Martinez doesn't seem phased though.

Hall bucks up and tries to throw Martinez off but instead Martinez has got his back!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Martinez has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hall has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Martinez is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Hall has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Martinez is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Hall is trying to get back to his feet but Martinez has full control of the position and if anything, Hall has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Our spies down at at HK13 LA inform us that Martinez has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Hall wants to get back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Martinez has got one arm under Hall's chin. This could be trouble... Hall trying to control the other hand but Martinez gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Hall has tapped out! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Johnny Martinez!
A less than humble Johnny Martinez misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
