Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Virgil Skinner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tama Malosi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Virgil Skinner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tama Malosi!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malosi shoots in looking for a takedown. Skinner tries to sprawl out of it but Malosi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Skinner manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Malosi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Skinner but Skinner pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Malosi shoots for a double leg takedown but Skinner sprawls well. He's pushed Malosi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Virgil Skinner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tama Malosi.

Skinner forces Malosi back against the cage and clinches.
Malosi stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Skinner tries to pull guard but Malosi won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Malosi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Skinner really is a fat lump.
Malosi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Skinner is one step ahead there.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Skinner shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Malosi as he avoids it easily.

Skinner scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Malosi manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Tama Malosi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Malosi forces Skinner back against the cage and clinches.
Malosi goes for a takedown attempt but Skinner pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Skinner is trying hard to land a takedown here. Malosi sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Skinner misses with a takedown attempt - Malosi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Skinner is breathing heavily.
Skinner throws a sloppy head kick and Malosi moves out of range easily.
Malosi throws a series of strikes that have Skinner backpedaling.


It looks like Virgil Skinner has been cut.

Malosi has taken the fight to the clinch.
Skinner is trying to pull guard but Malosi has him pressed against the cage.

Malosi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Malosi swats away the attempt to clinch by Skinner.
Malosi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Skinner jumps guard and drags Malosi to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Skinner working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Malosi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Malosi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Malosi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Skinner wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Skinner had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Malosi defends it easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Malosi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Malosi avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tama Malosi dominated that round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Malosi lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Skinner tries to clinch but Malosi moves out of range.
Skinner throws a head kick that misses.
Malosi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Malosi throws a right and a left that both miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Malosi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Skinner tries to avoid it but Malosi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Skinner to the ground. Skinner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Malosi goes for a double leg but Skinner avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Skinner continues to drive forward.
Skinner is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Skinner stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Skinner wants it to stay on the feet.

Malosi rushes Skinner and presses him up against the cage.
Malosi is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Skinner to keep the fight standing.
Malosi is breathing heavily.
Malosi will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Skinner up against the cage.
Malosi jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Skinner walks away with a smile on his face. Malosi gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Skinner rushes Malosi and presses him up against the cage.
Skinner jumps guard but Malosi turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Malosi is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Skinner gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Malosi breaks the clinch.

Skinner drives through and clinches with Malosi against the cage.
Malosi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Skinner pulls his leg out and moves away.
Malosi doesn't manage to clinch there - Skinner circles away.

Skinner drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Malosi manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Skinner moves in looking to clinch but Malosi pushes him off.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Skinner.
Malosi tries to clinch there but Skinner circles away.
Skinner tries a head kick but it misses.
Malosi was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Malosi shoots in for a takedown but Skinner shows good takedown defense.
Malosi fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Malosi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Skinner tries to avoid it but Malosi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Skinner to the ground. Skinner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Malosi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Skinner is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Malosi.
Virgil Skinner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Malosi fails to land the takedown.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
No luck for Skinner with that takedown attempt.
Malosi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Skinner manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Skinner crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Malosi - the referee stops the clock and Skinner gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Malosi. Skinner manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Malosi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Skinner but Skinner pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Skinner looking to score a takedown here. Malosi is defending well but Skinner drives through and ends up in Malosi's guard.

Malosi has his feet on Skinner's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Skinner tries a head kick but it misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tama Malosi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Malosi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Malosi wants a takedown.

Skinner cracks Malosi with a solid left hand.
Malosi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Malosi wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Skinner is now in half guard.

Malosi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Skinner is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Still in half guard, Skinner seems content to control.
Skinner throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Malosi is looking to improve his position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Malosi throws a one two combo.

Malosi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Skinner as he avoids it easily.
Skinner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Skinner tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Skinner shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Skinner blocks the strikes from Malosi.
Still in half guard, Skinner seems content to control.

Malosi is looking for a sweep. Skinner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Malosi is trying to stand back up but Skinner is controlling him

Skinner stops Malosi from getting back to his feet.

Skinner stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Malosi to get to his feet.
Skinner swats away the attempt to clinch by Malosi.
Tama Malosi seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Malosi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Skinner feinted with a counter takedown.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Skinner manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Malosi on his heels. He'll look to pass Malosi's guard now, I'm sure.
Malosi wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Skinner manages to pass to side control.


Malosi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Skinner pulls his head out easily.
Malosi wants to get back to full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Malosi looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Skinner pushes past his half guard into mount!

And that's the end of the fight!
Virgil Skinner showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Malosi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
