Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Hoppus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Davison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoppus comes to the cage accompanied by Dammit. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Davison!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davison fails with an attempt to clinch.
Davison looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hoppus pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Hoppus counters with a head kick.
Hoppus tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Davison swivels and escapes.
Davison will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mark Hoppus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hoppus gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Davison slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Chris Davison's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Horrible takedown by Hoppus or perhaps it was just good defense by Davison which made him look bad.

Hoppus takes the fight into the clinch.
Davison wants a takedown but no success here.

Hoppus breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Davison is trying desperately to land a takedown but Hoppus is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Davison.

and Davison counters with a shoot takedown. Hoppus fights it but they end up in guard.

Hoppus is working for a guillotine from mount but Davison frees his head quite easily.
Davison is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Davison is desperately trying to improve his position but Hoppus has a good base and remains in mount.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Davison can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Hoppus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Davison as he avoids it easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hoppus wants to clinch up but Davison keeps it at a distance.
Davison throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hoppus's waist but Hoppus gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Davison off to one side.

and Hoppus counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Davison is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Hoppus looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Davison is fending him off so far but Hoppus persists. Nope, Davison circles away and we're back to standing.

Davison wants to get up but he can't break Hoppus's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hoppus is trying to maintain the position but Davison is very close to passing his half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Davison counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hoppus won't be happy with that.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Davison tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Hoppus is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Davison remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
