Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Papy Abedi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vic Vantrell! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abedi scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Crunch! Abedi slams his shin into Vantrell's torso. Vantrell gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Abedi. Vantrell wants to clinch. Abedi fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Abedi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Vantrell was covering up waiting for the punch and Abedi finishes the takedown easily into guard. Abedi with a nice head shot there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Abedi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Vantrell works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Abedi avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Vantrell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Abedi throwing strikes from guard but Vantrell blocks nicely. Abedi chips away with some ground and pound. Vantrell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Abedi forces his way into half guard. Vantrell looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Abedi missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Abedi prevents Vantrell from improving his position. Nice strikes from Abedi there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Abedi landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Abedi slows the pace down in half guard. Vantrell is pressing down on Abedi's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Vantrell can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Abedi controls the pace. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Abedi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Vantrell keeping moving, preventing Abedi from controlling successfully. Abedi landing with the ground and pound. Abedi's corner is telling him to maintain position. Vantrell wants to control the position but Abedi says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vantrell avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Abedi. Abedi working the head and body with strikes. Vantrell is looking for a sweep. Abedi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Vantrell is pressing down on Abedi's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Abedi wants to control from the top but Vantrell keeps moving. Vantrell is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Abedi trying to control but Vantrell is working from the bottom. Abedi working some strikes from top position. Abedi working some strikes from top position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vantrell is on top in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vantrell won't allow Abedi to sweep him here. Abedi has Vantrell pulled in close to control his posture. Vantrell postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Abedi has control of Vantrell's left arm, preventing Vantrell from doing any damage. Abedi's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Abedi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Papy Abedi dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Vantrell fails with a takedown attempt. Vantrell changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Abedi tries to avoid it but Vantrell manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Abedi to the ground. Abedi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Vantrell tries to clinch but Abedi is having none of it. A little feinted left hand from Abedi on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Abedi stalks Vantrell and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Vantrell's face. Vantrell staggers backwards, shaken. Vantrell misses with a takedown attempt letting Abedi counter with a right hand. Papy Abedi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vic Vantrell. No luck with that takedown attempt from Vantrell. Abedi lands a big right hand that sends Vantrell crashing to the mat! Abedi stays standing though and waves Vantrell back to his feet!
Vantrell is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Abedi jabs Vantrell to the body, keeping him at a distance. Vantrell is still on wobbly legs! Can Abedi finish him? Abedi feints a jab and as Vantrell dips his head, Abedi unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Vantrell right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Vantrell falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Abedi smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Papy Abedi! In his post fight interview, Papy Abedi started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
