Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexander comes to the cage accompanied by Superheroes. West has chosen J.Cole - No Role Modelz as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michael Alexander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andrew West!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alexander clinches up with West and pushes him back against the cage.
Alexander tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. West just stands there and leans against the cage.

West pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
West lands with a straight right. Alexander didn't see that one coming.
We've been told by Alexander's head coaches at Highland Brawl Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
West scores with a hook.
West lands a jab to the nose.
Alexander misses with a body shot.
Nice uppercut lands for West. That snapped Alexander's head back.

West shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Alexander napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Alexander sneaks out the side door and pushes West away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alexander with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling West to score with a decent uppercut.
A telegraphed right hand from West misses the target.
A jab from Alexander does it's job there.
West scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Alexander blocks the body kick.
West lands an overhand right.
West lands a leg kick that knocks Alexander off balance momentarily.
West slips a jab and a cross from Alexander.
Alexander shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
letting West counter with a right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
West misses with a few strikes there.
West has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Alexander moves into the clinch.

West breaks from the clinch.
West takes a swing at Alexander's ribcage but misses.
Some wild striking there from Alexander.
West showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Alexander.
West thuds his right hand into Alexander's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
West rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Alexander moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Alexander slaps away a takedown attempt from West, before circling back to the center of the mat.
West lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Alexander fails to land with a series of punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
West dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
West lands a right hook to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Alexander throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
West lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Alexander looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? West is fending him off so far but Alexander persists. Nope, West circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Alexander. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Alexander gets cracked there but stands up to it.

West shoots in looking for a takedown but Alexander manages to keep the fight standing, pushing West's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
West lands an overhand right.

West closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

An elbow from West crashes against the mat.
Alexander knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for West on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alexander has one of West's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

West looks up at the clock and then as Alexander takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, West smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
West throws a strike aimed at the side of Alexander's head but Alexander avoids it well.

West has hold of Alexander's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Alexander seems comfortable defending it but West has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Alexander is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Alexander is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but West couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Andrew West!
Andrew West bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
