Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mariano Stanley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silva!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stanley misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Silva fails with the takedown

so Stanley counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Silva wants to get back to his feet but Stanley passes into half guard.

Silva moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Silva not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Silva throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stanley cracks Silva with a solid left hand.

Silva shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Stanley but Stanley pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Stanley throws a big counter combination but Silva scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Silva misses with a takedown attempt - Stanley sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mariano Stanley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Silva.

Silva closes the distance and clinches.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close round but I would say that Mariano Stanley will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Stanley has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Silva is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Stanley.

Stanley is looking to regain half guard here but Silva keeps moving and retains side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Stanley has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

and Stanley counters with a nice double leg into side control. Silva won't be happy with that.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Silva looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Stanley is fending him off so far but Silva persists. Nope, Stanley circles away and we're back to standing.

Stanley winds up and cracks Silva with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Stanley is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Silva doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Stanley.

Silva is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Stanley has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

I would just about give that final round to Anderson Silva.
I think Silva has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
