Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Del Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshi Hiroshima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yoshi Hiroshima has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Del Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshi Hiroshima!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Shimada and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Hiroshima is controlling Smith's trapped leg to prevent Smith from advancing to side control.
Hiroshima is trying to control but Smith manages to pass to mount!
Smith looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Hiroshima is wriggling around trying to escape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hiroshima tries to kick Smith off but Smith keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Smith lands strikes from half guard.
Hiroshima keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Hiroshima has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Smith is working away from the top position though.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hiroshima can do anything to dispel that myth.
Smith lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Smith has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hiroshima uses from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith pulls Hiroshima in close to his closed guard and prevents Hiroshima from doing any damage or advancing position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smith is on top in guard.

Hiroshima throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Smith blocks it with crossed arms.

Smith is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Smith tightens his grip and picks Hiroshima up, before dumping him to the ground. Hiroshima manages to land in guard.

and Smith counters with a series of strikes. Hiroshima will be more careful next time no doubt.

Hiroshima tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Smith just stands there and leans against the cage.

Smith drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Smith digs a right hand underneath Hiroshima's ribcage. Hiroshima let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Hiroshima pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Smith shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hiroshima napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Hiroshima bucks up and tries to throw Smith off but instead Smith has got his back!
Smith trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Hiroshima doesn't escape.
Hiroshima wants to control his opponent's hands but Smith gets his hands free.
Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Smith has the hooks in. Hiroshima is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Smith connects with a big shot to the side of Hiroshima's head.
Smith lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Smith.
Smith lands a shot to the head.
Smith has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Hiroshima.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hiroshima is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Smith shoots in looking for a takedown but Hiroshima manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smith's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Smith slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Smith lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Hiroshima.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hiroshima trying to get back to his feet but Smith is in full control for now.

Smith is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Hiroshima is defending well though. Smith let's go of the attempt for now.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smith, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
