The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aerts changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Burns looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Aerts misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Aerts has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Aerts is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Burns knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Burns's coaches at Cozad MMA Rio have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Burns, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
