Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Masahiko Kimura! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Patrice Gunines! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Kimura fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gunines to the ground. Kimura is now in Gunines's guard. Gunines has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kimura can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Gunines keeping moving, preventing Kimura from controlling successfully. Kimura is stalling in the full guard. Kimura advances to half guard. Gunines trying to control from the bottom.
Kimura content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gunines is in trouble now - Kimura has advanced to mount! Kimura tries to control but Gunines wriggling away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gunines tries to reverse the position but Kimura maintains control. Gunines is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Gunines keeps trying to improve his position. Kimura takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Kimura looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Kimura moves to take his opponent's back. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Kimura's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Kimura is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Gunines defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Gunines defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Kimura's arms. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kimura gets his hands free as Gunines looks to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kimura controls the position. Kimura looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Kimura is looking to control Gunines but Gunines is wriggling around and keeping busy. You can see the frustration on Gunines's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Gunines turns into Kimura and is now in his guard.
Gunines won't allow Kimura to sweep him here. Kimura pulls Gunines in close to prevent any damage. Kimura keeping moving, preventing Gunines from controlling successfully. Kimura working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gunines doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Kimura is tightening it up a little... Gunines has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Gunines reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Gunines taps out! Nice BJJ there by Kimura!
