PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Krimely (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Victor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jason Krimely!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao Victor!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Krimely does no damage.
Krimely is looking to clinch.
Krimely throws a sloppy head kick and Victor moves out of range easily.
Jason Krimely seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Krimely fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Victor avoids it really well and circles away.
A chopping leg kick lands by Victor.
Krimely lands with an overhand left.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Krimely looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Victor lands with a nice body kick.
Victor is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Krimely changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Victor tries to avoid it but Krimely manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Victor to the ground. Victor escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Krimely shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Victor is trying to defend but Krimely finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Victor is controlling Krimely's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Krimely wants to pass to mount but Victor is defending the position.

Krimely is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Krimely trying to mount his opponent but Victor defends it.
Victor holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Krimely is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Victor has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at EXEL VORTEX. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Victor tries to roll over but Krimely keeps him under control.

Victor is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Krimely wants to pass the guard but Victor is keeping the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Victor scores with a push kick.
Krimely blocks a jab.
Victor scores with a leg kick.
Krimely lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
A bone on bone clash there as Krimely blocks the leg kick.
Krimely drops down looking for a counter takedown but Victor sprawls and moves away.
Victor throws a low kick but Krimely avoids it.
Krimely avoids a kick to the body.
Victor fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Krimely avoids it really well and circles away.

Krimely has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Jason Krimely is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Krimely throws a series of strikes that have Victor backpedaling.
Krimely scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

and Victor counters with a nice low kick that buckles Krimely's knee momentarily.
Krimely slips under a jab from Victor.

Krimely looks for the body kick but Victor saw that one coming.
Victor appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Krimely shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Krimely showed some decent athleticism there.
Victor is looking for a sweep. Krimely is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jason Krimely overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Victor is not content to let Krimely control the position.
Krimely thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Victor's head.
Krimely wants to control but Victor is keeping him busy.

Krimely throws a strike but Victor avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Krimely shoots in looking for a takedown. Victor tries to sprawl out of it but Krimely keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Victor manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Krimely closes the distance and clinches.

Victor slips a jab and a cross from Krimely.
No joy there for Krimely, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Krimely is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Victor can do to turn this around?
Krimely wants to clinch up but Victor keeps it at a distance.
Krimely lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Krimely checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Krimely throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Victor was covering up waiting for the punch and Krimely finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Victor is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Victor tries to keep at a distance but Krimely has taken the fight into the clinch.
Krimely is trying to break the clinch but Victor has him pressed against the cage.

Krimely blocks an elbow strike from Victor.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Krimely dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Krimely walks into a jab.


It looks like Jason Krimely has been cut.
Victor throws a looping overhand right but Krimely ducks down to avoid it.
An inside leg kick from Victor misses.
Krimely looks to land a combination but Victor avoids it well.
Victor stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Victor wants it to stay on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Krimely is defended easily by Victor.

Krimely gets the takedown into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Victor throws a leg kick which misses Krimely's front leg but catches the back leg as Krimely tries to avoid it.

Victor connects with a right hand. Krimely shakes it off.
Krimely tries to bum rush Victor with a series of wild strikes but Victor uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Krimely misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Joao Victor has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Victor darts in looking for a takedown but Krimely gets double underhooks and turns Victor into the cage.
Krimely is looking for a counter combo.
Krimely throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Victor to counter with a crisp jab.

and Victor counters with a nice body kick.

Victor closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Victor lands in his opponent's guard.

Victor trying to control the position from guard on top but Krimely is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Krimely is looking to stand up but Victor isn't so interested in that idea.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Victor looking to pass the guard.
Victor works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Victor prevents Krimely from standing back up.
Victor takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Victor throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Jason Krimely is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Victor is looking for a kimura here.
Krimely looks like he's trying to stand up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Joao Victor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Krimely has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Jason Krimely decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
Joao Victor spoke after the fight, saying 'Sorry!'.
