Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Matthew Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Macho Machette! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Sandra Marshall and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Machette. Machette wants to clinch. Johnson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Machette misses with a series of wild punches.
Machette lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Machette closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Johnson to the mat! Johnson manages to get full guard. Johnson wants to sweep but no luck. Johnson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Machette's guard. Johnson sitting in guard here, content to control. Our spies down at at Cozad The Island inform us that Machette has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Johnson looking to pass the guard. Johnson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Machette really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Johnson taking a breather here. Johnson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Machette knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Johnson looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Machette is looking for a sweep.

The ground and pound from Johnson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Johnson sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Machette is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Johnson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Machette is looking to control Johnson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Machette avoid being mounted? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Machette doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Johnson. Johnson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Johnson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Machette is just riding it out for now. Johnson eventually gives up the hold. Machette looks like he's trying to stand up.
Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Machette's head. Machette wants to get back to his feet. Johnson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Johnson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Machette is desperately trying to improve his position but Johnson has a good base and remains in mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Machette hang on? Machette is trying desperately to improve position. Machette is breathing heavily. Johnson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Machette to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Machette shrugs it off. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! Machette takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Well, if Johnson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Johnson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Machette sees it coming and defends easily.

He's locked up a kimura now - that was fast! He's cranking on it and Machette is forced to tap! The fight is over!
