Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, JJ Jung! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Liam McGrath! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGrath keeps the fight on the outside. McGrath is looking to take this fight into the clinch. McGrath has a takedown stuffed. McGrath throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jung. Jung is looking to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No luck for McGrath with that takedown attempt. Jung moves into range and clinches up with McGrath.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGrath managing to block the knees to the body from Jung.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. McGrath throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jung. Jung tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McGrath paws at him with a jab and circles away. McGrath is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Jung tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. McGrath shoots in for a double leg but Jung sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. JJ Jung has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Liam McGrath. Jung takes the fight into the clinch. Jung lands an elbow inside.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGrath tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jung smiles and moves away.
McGrath throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jung's waist but Jung gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McGrath off to one side. McGrath shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jung as he jumps to the side. McGrath avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jung looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. McGrath rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jung moves out of range and avoids them all easily. McGrath swats away the attempt to clinch by Jung. Jung tries to grapple but his opponent circles and McGrath counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jung's guard now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jung is controlling McGrath's posture. Jung avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Liam McGrath will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

That's one minute gone in the round. Jung unloads a knee to the mid-section. McGrath lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Jung misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from McGrath.
Jung lands with a left to the head. McGrath is trying to break the clinch but Jung has him pressed against the cage. Knees in the clinch landing for Jung.
McGrath is breathing heavily. Jung trying to land knees to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round. McGrath is looking to break free of the clinch but Jung has double underhooks. Jung works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Jung gets to his feet - McGrath follows without any prompting. McGrath circles away from the clinch attempt and McGrath counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jung won't be happy with that. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jung regains half guard. McGrath looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jung with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Jung trying to control but McGrath postures up.
McGrath slips a nice elbow through Jung's hands, connecting with Jung's forehead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jung tries to get to full guard but McGrath has control of the leg. Jung gets back to full guard.
Jung preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. McGrath has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jung lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McGrath! McGrath tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Jung trying to control but he's not successful this time. McGrath is looking to get to half guard. McGrath is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Jung can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McGrath is looking to escape. McGrath flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jung tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. McGrath throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Jung wants to control the pace but McGrath is squirming around nicely. Jung prevents McGrath from getting the reversal. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that JJ Jung will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Jung clinches up with McGrath and pushes him back against the cage. Jung breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. McGrath throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Jung counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jung. Jung landing knees to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round. McGrath wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. McGrath avoiding damage as Jung throws knees to the body.

McGrath takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Jung breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McGrath doesn't succeed with the takedown and Jung counters by moving into the clinch. Jung lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Jung lands a damaging elbow. Jung gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Jung landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. McGrath avoids the elbow strike from Jung, against the cage.
McGrath blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Jung breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

McGrath shoots and misses and Jung counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jung. JJ Jung has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Liam McGrath. Jung slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Jung is looking to stand up but McGrath won't let him.
And that's the end of the fight! JJ Jung showed his dominance in that final round. I think Jung has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
