Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Trent Cotchin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Optimus Prime! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Damien Edna and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Prime tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Cotchin throws a quick counter head kick but Prime was just out of range. A jab from Cotchin misses. Prime just misses with a punch to the body.
Prime closes the distance and clinches. Cotchin works on Prime's body with a couple of short punches. Prime wants a takedown but no success here.
Cotchin tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Prime's elbow. Cotchin tries to throw a body punch but Prime avoids it by throwing Cotchin back against the cage. Prime manages to break the clinch.
Cotchin throws the kick towards the body but Prime avoids it. Cotchin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Jab, jab by Cotchin - just one landing. Cotchin tries to land a leg kick but Prime saw it coming and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cotchin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
It looks like Trent Cotchin has been cut. Cotchin just misses with a punch to the body.
Cotchin throws a head kick that misses. Prime tries to clinch but Cotchin moves out of range. Cotchin throws a head kick but Prime moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round. Prime misses the shot to the body. Prime fails with an attempt to clinch.
A combination from Cotchin does no damage. And Prime tries to counter it with a takedown but Cotchin pushes his down on his head and steps out. Cotchin gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Cotchin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Prime is trying to defend but Cotchin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Cotchin wants to free his trapped foot but Prime is holding on for dear life with his legs. Prime moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Prime is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Prime throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Prime thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Prime looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cotchin is one step ahead there.

Prime is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Prime throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Cotchin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Prime looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cotchin is one step ahead there. Cotchin chips away with some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cotchin postures up and lands a big shot to Prime's brow. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Cotchin chips away with some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Prime lands with a heel strike from the guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cotchin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Prime has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cotchin has managed to get both his arms back between Prime's legs - danger averted. Prime doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Cotchin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Cotchin is looking to pass into half guard but Prime pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Prime is in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Prime working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Cotchin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Prime manages to get himself to full guard.

Cotchin throws a nice inside leg kick. Prime fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Cotchin checks it well. Prime bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Prime misses with a few strikes there.
Cotchin ducks under a wild hook from Prime. Cotchin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Prime can do to turn this around? The fight stays on the outside here - Prime looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Cotchin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Prime as he avoids it easily. A head kick misses from Cotchin. Prime shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cotchin pinned against the cage. Cotchin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Prime tries to clinch but Cotchin moves out of range. Cotchin walks into a left hand. Cotchin pivots, looking for a leg kick but Prime is out of range and Cotchin settles back down.

Prime steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Cotchin. That one must have hurt. Prime tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Cotchin pivots, looking for a leg kick but Prime is out of range and Cotchin settles back down. Cotchin throws a leg kick that misses. A slapping leg kick lands for Cotchin.

Prime tries to throw a body punch but Cotchin avoids it by throwing Prime back against the cage. Prime wants to break free but Cotchin has control.

Prime pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. A momentary lapse in concentration from Cotchin enables Prime to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cotchin manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Cotchin is trying to control the position but Prime postures up. Prime has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Prime works over Cotchin with some ground and pound from guard. Trent Cotchin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Prime scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Cotchin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Prime swivels though and keeps the full guard. Prime throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Cotchin passes Prime's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Prime is not content to let Cotchin control the position. Prime is trying to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cotchin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Prime defends it well. Prime is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Prime trying to hold on to Cotchin's head to control him but Cotchin postures up.
Prime might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cotchin haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Cotchin is looking for a kimura but Prime is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cotchin to get the leverage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Cotchin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Prime defends it well. Prime has hold of Cotchin's hands but Cotchin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Prime is looking for a sweep. Cotchin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Prime missing with punches from the bottom.
Cotchin is thwarting Prime's attempts to control the position. Cotchin moves into full mount! Prime won't be happy about that! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cotchin with the ground and pound from mount. Cotchin in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

That was a close second round but I would say that Trent Cotchin will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Trent Cotchin's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Cotchin tries a low kick but Prime avoids it. Cotchin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Prime looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Prime throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Prime tries to improve position but can't. Prime is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Prime is looking for a sweep. Cotchin scoring with punches from side control. Prime tries to bench press Cotchin off him but Cotchin keeps the position. You can see the frustration on Prime's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Prime is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Cotchin is controlling him well. Prime tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cotchin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Prime is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Prime striking from the bottom but nothing landed.

Prime can't do much from the bottom here. Cotchin scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Prime to see if he's OK. Prime striking from the bottom but nothing landed.

Cotchin wants to control but Prime is keeping him busy. Prime on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Prime is trying to get back to half guard. Cotchin trying to control the position but Prime is working away.

Cotchin passes to side control. Cotchin is putting a hurting on Prime here, landing some big shots from side control. Prime wants to get back to his feet but Cotchin drags him back down. Cotchin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Prime, who protects the arm well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Prime gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Cotchin seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Cotchin prevents Prime from improving his position. Cotchin is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Cotchin trying to pass the guard but Prime defending well. Prime is looking for a sweep. Cotchin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

And that's the end of the fight! Trent Cotchin showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cotchin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
