Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jeramy Duke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Adolfo Washington! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Shimada and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Washington looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Duke wants to control but Washington is keeping busy.
Duke regains full guard. Nicely done. Duke might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Washington seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Duke is trying to control the position but Washington postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Washington trying to control the position from guard on top but Duke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Washington really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Duke. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Duke trying to control the position here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Washington in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Washington fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Duke sprawls well initially but Washington persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Duke makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Duke. Washington trying to control the position from guard on top but Duke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Duke is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Washington defends well. Washington wants to control from the top but Duke keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Duke had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Washington defends it easily. Washington throws a big elbow that misses. Washington throwing strikes but missing. Duke being controlled here, momentarily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duke wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Washington is now in half guard. Washington trying to control from Duke's half guard. Duke has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Duke working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Washington doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Duke is tightening it up a little... Washington has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Washington reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Washington taps out! Nice BJJ there by Duke!
