Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ziba Halo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kanga Roos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ziba Halo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kanga Roos!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A cross from Halo lands.


It looks like Kanga Roos has been cut.
Halo looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Halo scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Roos doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Halo counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Roos shoots for a takedown but Halo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kanga Roos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A big right from Halo misses.

Roos drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Roos is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Halo has momentary wrist control but Roos slips an elbow through the middle.
Roos throwing strikes from guard but Halo blocks nicely.

Roos is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Halo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Halo has escaped and now he's on top!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Roos is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Halo defends well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Halo trying to control the position from guard on top but Roos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Halo preventing the sweep.
Halo passes Roos's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Roos tries to get to full guard but Halo has control of the leg.
Halo missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Roos looking for submissions off his back.
Halo is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Roos landing rabbit punches to the side of Halo's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points.
Roos has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Roos looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Halo with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Roos flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Roos is staying active underneath Halo, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Halo misses with a hook.
Roos tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Roos darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Roos gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Halo moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Halo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Halo throws a push kick but Roos slaps the foot to one side.
Roos misses with a takedown attempt
and Halo counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Ziba Halo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kanga Roos.

Roos changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Halo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Halo sneaks out the side door and pushes Roos away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Roos dives in and grabs Halo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Halo pushes down on Roos's head and hops out.
Halo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Roos defends it nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Roos shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Halo sprawls well. Halo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Roos gets slowly back to his feet.
Halo defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Roos.
Halo digs a good body shot into Roos's ribs.
Roos looks winded!
Roos with a lazy takedown attempt
and Roos takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


That has opened up Kanga Roos's cut even more.
Roos takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Roos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Halo as he jumps to the side.
Halo closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Roos! Halo dives in looking to finish! Roos is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ziba Halo!
After the fight, Ziba Halo was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
