PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charles Kota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kristoff Klinkhammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kota comes into the arena with Airplanes - B.o.B ft Hayley Williams blaring out of the sound system. Kristoff Klinkhammer will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Charles Kota!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kristoff Klinkhammer!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kota avoids a punch combination nicely.
Klinkhammer throws a head kick but Kota moves out of range.
Kota is trying hard to land a takedown here. Klinkhammer sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kota keeps the fight on the outside.
Klinkhammer throws the kick towards the body but Kota avoids it.
Kota swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Kristoff Klinkhammer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kota gets the takedown into side control.
Kota working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Kota in side control, throwing shots but Klinkhammer defends.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kota postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Klinkhammer manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Kota is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Klinkhammer sees it coming and defends easily.

Kota looks to land a strike but Klinkhammer avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Klinkhammer has hold of Kota's hands but Kota slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Kota is working for a kimura but Klinkhammer is defending it quite comfortably.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kota thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Kota not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Kota thows a huge punch but Klinkhammer dodges it nicely.
Kota missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Klinkhammer is looking for a sweep. Kota is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kota throws a strike but Klinkhammer avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Kota postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Klinkhammer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Kota lands a couple of digs.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Klinkhammer holds on and takes a little breather.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Klinkhammer is on top in guard.

Kota on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kota tries to get out of the position.

Kota is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Klinkhammer is aware though and is defending well.

Kota isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Klinkhammer stacks Kota on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Klinkhammer!
Kota wants to control but Klinkhammer postures up.
Kota is not content to let Klinkhammer control the position.
Kota takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Klinkhammer is looking to take a break and control but Kota is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kota tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charles Kota dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Klinkhammer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
As Klinkhammer looks to move away, Kota throws a big counter combo bu Klinkhammer just gets out of the way.

Kota is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Klinkhammer is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Charles Kota!
A relieved looking Charles Kota thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
