Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rimhak Wonha! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Mclovin! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wonha throws a leg kick that is checked and Mclovin counters with a lovely straight right hand! Wonha avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Mclovin lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. John Mclovin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wonha blocks a head kick by Mclovin.
Wonha throws a quick counter head kick but Mclovin was just out of range. Mclovin pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Mclovin misses with a hook. Wonha ducked under it nicely. Mclovin tries for a takedown but Wonha circles away easily and Wonha moves into the clinch. Wonha blocks an elbow strike from Mclovin.
Wonha lands a nice elbow. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wonha makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Wonha throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Mclovin blocks it with crossed arms. Mclovin is trying to break the clinch but Wonha is controlling him. Mclovin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Wonha has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Stray Dogs in the buildup to the fight. Mclovin scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Wonha throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Mclovin just misses with a punch to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mclovin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wonha manages to avoid it. Mclovin misses with a hook. Mclovin checks a low kick from Wonha. Wonha gets caught napping as Mclovin dives in and scores a takedown. Wonha manages to retain guard. Wonha wants to sweep here but Mclovin controlling him for the moment. Wonha is pulling down on Mclovin's head to control his posture. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mclovin throwing strikes but missing. Wonha is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Wonha prevents Mclovin from improving his position. Mclovin trying to get back to full guard but Wonha takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Mclovin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Rimhak Wonha dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Mclovin lands a glancing blow to the side of Wonha's head. Wonha moves out of range of the strikes. Mclovin looks for the body kick but Wonha saw that one coming. Mclovin might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. An inside leg kick lands from Wonha. A nice glancing elbow lands by Wonha. Mclovin is trying to break the clinch but Wonha has him pressed against the cage. Wonha lands an elbow that stopped Mclovin in his tracks for a moment. Mclovin turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mclovin manages to end up in side control. Wonha is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Wonha is working hard here to advance position.

Wonha tries to buck Mclovin off but Mclovin is having none of it. Mclovin trying to control the action but Wonha is working from the bottom. Wonha isn't going anywhere. Rimhak Wonha is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Mclovin goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Wonha has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mclovin but great work by Wonha. The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Wonha slips a straight right by Mclovin. Wonha misses with an uppercut
and Mclovin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Wonha connects with an inside leg kick. Wonha lands with a thumping leg kick.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mclovin misses with a hook
