Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jaco Pastorious (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyron Thatch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tyron Thatch was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jaco Pastorious! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyron Thatch! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pastorious looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Thatch has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Pastorious off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Pastorious shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Thatch tries to get to full guard but Pastorious has control of the leg. Pastorious missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Thatch avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pastorious. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Thatch wants to get back to his feet. Pastorious is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Pastorious looking to control and managing it successfully. Pastorious looking for a guillotine from mount but Thatch is having none of it. Pastorious sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Pastorious looking to control but Thatch is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Pastorious swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Thatch is now in Pastorious's guard. A big mistake from Pastorious there, giving up the dominant position! Pastorious wants to stand up but Thatch is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Pastorious looking to control.
Thatch drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Pastorious dives on top into guard. Pastorious preventing the sweep. Thatch looking for a guillotine here but Pastorious defends easily.
Pastorious looking to pass the guard. Pastorious stays in close to Thatch's body and controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Thatch controls Pastorious momentarily but Pastorious frees himself. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Thatch closes the distance and clinches up with Pastorious, looking for a takedown. Thatch pushes Pastorious against the cage but Pastorious circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Pastorious lands a high kick!
Pastorious is looking to land body kicks. Pastorious throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Thatch's waist but Thatch gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pastorious off to one side. Pastorious stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pastorious wants it to stay on the feet. Pastorious looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The fighters are working up against the cage. Thatch manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thatch is trying to pull guard but Pastorious has him pressed against the cage. Jaco Pastorious has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyron Thatch. Pastorious has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Thatch avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Pastorious manages to pull guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pastorious looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pastorious is breathing heavily. Pastorious has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Thatch is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Pastorious. Thatch has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jaco Pastorious will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Thatch scores with the left hand. Pastorious knows he should have avoided that one. Thatch pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Thatch shoots in for a double leg but Pastorious sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Thatch shoots in but Pastorious avoids the takedown attempt easily. Pastorious scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Thatch bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thatch tries to clinch but Pastorious is having none of it. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Thatch shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pastorious defends it nicely. Pastorious attempts a counter takedown but Thatch avoids it well and moves away. Jaco Pastorious has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyron Thatch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thatch misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Thatch ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pastorious moves away. Pastorious throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Pastorious fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Thatch, pushing him back against the cage. Thatch is trying to pull guard but Pastorious has him pressed against the cage. Pastorious blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Thatch looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Thatch drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Pastorious gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Thatch is breathing heavily. Pastorious's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pastorious gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Pastorious lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Thatch backwards. Pastorious is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Thatch to keep the fight standing. Thatch is trying to maintain a safe position but Pastorious gets an underhook and turns Thatch into the cage. Pastorious pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Pastorious swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Thatch throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Pastorious looking for a takedown here - he's got it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pastorious trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Tyron Thatch has got the better of the ground game so far. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thatch keeping moving, preventing Pastorious from controlling successfully. Pastorious throwing strikes but missing. Pastorious controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Thatch looking for subs off his back but Pastorious has passed one foot through into half guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Thatch is defended easily by Pastorious. Pastorious shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Thatch as he avoids it easily. Jaco Pastorious is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Thatch displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pastorious. Thatch stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Pastorious. Thatch shoots in looking for a takedown. Pastorious tries to sprawl out of it but Thatch keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pastorious manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pastorious fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pastorious throws a right hand that Thatch ducks under and follows up with a left that Thatch also avoids with ease. Jaco Pastorious is winning the standup battle so far. Thatch lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pastorious circles away quickly and effectively. Thatch works the jab nicely. Thatch avoids the head kick by Pastorious.
Thatch is looking to clinch but Pastorious is avoiding it.
Pastorious closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Thatch to the mat! Thatch manages to get full guard. Thatch pushes Pastorious off and scrambles back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pastorious tries to bum rush Thatch with a series of wild strikes but Thatch uses good footwork to avoid the assault. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pastorious is defended easily by Thatch. As Pastorious backs off Thatch throws a huge counter combo but Pastorious manages to avoid it all. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Thatch closes the distance and clinches up with Pastorious, looking for a takedown. Thatch pushes Pastorious against the cage but Pastorious circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Thatch doesn't manage to clinch there - Pastorious circles away.
Pastorious went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Pastorious stuffs the takedown attempt from Thatch. Thatch gets slowly back to his feet. Jaco Pastorious has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyron Thatch. Pastorious closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Thatch fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Pastorious breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Pastorious stands up out of the half guard. Thatch attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Thatch tries to clinch and Pastorious counters with a shoot takedown. Thatch fights it but they end up in guard. Thatch manages to escape and get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pastorious tries to work over Thatch's front leg with a kick but Thatch checks it. Pastorious gets the takedown into side control. Thatch sneaks out the side door and pushes Pastorious away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Thatch fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pastorious has closed the distance and engaged Thatch in a clinch.

Pastorious's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Thatch changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pastorious tries to avoid it but Thatch manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pastorious to the ground. Pastorious escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Pastorious shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pastorious showed some decent athleticism there. Pastorious seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Pastorious is trying to control. Thatch wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thatch wants to control but Pastorious is keeping busy.
Thatch has a hand on Pastorious's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Pastorious takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Pastorious working away from the top, dropping strikes. Pastorious wants to control the pace but Thatch is squirming around nicely. Thatch is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jaco Pastorious. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pastorious, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
