Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Danny Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Klay Montez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Charles comes into the arena with Have Heart - Armed With A Mind blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Danny Charles! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Klay Montez! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Winston Alpacca and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Montez fails with the takedown. Klay Montez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Montez has closed the distance and engaged Charles in a clinch.
Montez breaks from the clinch.
Montez moves into range and clinches up with Charles. Charles struggles to land a body shot inside as Montez controls his hands.
Charles manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Charles avoids the head kick by Montez.
A little feinted left hand from Charles on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Montez with a poor takedown and Charles moves into the clinch. Montez fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Danny Charles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Klay Montez.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee calls for Montez to work.

Charles changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Montez fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Charles tries to keep at a distance but Montez has taken the fight into the clinch. Montez decides to pull guard. Charles wants to stand but Montez has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Montez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Charles wants to control from the top but Montez keeps moving. Montez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Montez kicks Charles off and gets to his feet. Montez with a lazy takedown attempt and Charles counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Montez is defended easily by Charles. Charles appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Charles throws a head kick that misses. Montez shoots in but no luck this time. Montez misses with a takedown attempt and Charles counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Montez throws a combination that misses and Charles counters with a right hand to the body. Charles rushes Montez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Montez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Charles pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Montez takes the fight into the clinch. Charles pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Montez darts in trying to clinch and Charles cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Klay Montez has been cut. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Charles shoots in but Montez avoids the takedown attempt easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Danny Charles will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Klay Montez's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Montez shoots in looking for a takedown. Charles tries to sprawl out of it but Montez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Charles manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Charles instigates a clinch. Montez has clasped his hands together around Charles's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Montez avoids the strikes from the bottom by Charles. Montez is staying tight to Charles's torso, preventing him from escaping. Charles is not content to let Montez control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Montez decides to stand back up. Montez steps back and let's Charles get back to his feet. Montez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Charles slaps away a takedown attempt from Montez, before circling back to the center of the mat. Charles is looking to counter the offense by Montez and move into the clinch. Montez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Charles as he jumps to the side. Danny Charles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Klay Montez. Charles looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Montez! Montez bucks up and tries to throw Charles off but instead Charles has got his back!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Montez is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Montez tries to escape but Charles has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Charles is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Montez knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Montez for a finish. Charles has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Montez can't escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Montez is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Charles avoiding Montez 's attempts to control his hands. Montez breaks Charles's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Montez trying to control but Charles is working from the bottom. Montez tries to free his leg and advance position but Charles is retaining full guard. Charles throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Montez controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Montez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Charles is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Montez is controlling him. Charles wants to sweep here but Montez controlling him for the moment. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Charles is trying to control the position but Montez postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Danny Charles will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Klay Montez's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

and Montez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Charles looks to clinch and Montez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Charles's guard. Montez has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Charles is proving hard to escape from. Montez chips away with some ground and pound. Montez passes Charles's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Charles wants to get back to his feet.
Montez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Montez looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Charles is trying to control but Montez passes into side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Who's going to make the next move? Check out the look on Montez's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Montez controls the position. Charles is looking to regain half guard here but Montez keeps moving and retains side control. Charles is not content to let Montez control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Montez stands up and beckons Charles to his feet. Montez clinches up against the cage. Montez is trying to drag Charles to the mat but Charles just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Danny Charles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Klay Montez. Montez wants to break the clinch but can't.
Charles jumps into guard, dragging Montez to the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Montez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Montez stopping the sweep attempt from Charles. Montez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Charles dives on top into guard. Klay Montez has got the better of the ground game so far. Charles looking to sit in guard and control but Montez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Charles is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Charles is looking for a triangle but Montez pushes his legs off easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Charles kicks Montez off and gets to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Danny Charles. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Charles, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
