Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jose Aldo! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Franklyn Lucas and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aldo throws a low kick but it's checked well by Ward. Ward scores with a hook to the body. Aldo takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Aldo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Aldo circles away from the clinch attempt.
Despite the aggression on Aldo's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Aldo throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Ward is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Aldo cracks a nice hook into Ward's ribs. Aldo throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Ward's head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Aldo scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ward doesn't seem bothered though. Ward displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Aldo throws out the jab. Ward seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Aldo lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Aldo jabs Ward to the body, keeping him at a distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aldo throws a low kick but Ward avoids it. Aldo is looking to slow Ward down with leg kicks. Ward doesn't manage to clinch there - Aldo circles away.

Aldo swats away the attempt to clinch by Ward. Ward takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Ward wants to clinch. Aldo scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ward doesn't seem bothered though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A left lands for Aldo. Sloppy strikes from Aldo. Those never looked like landing. Ward tries to clinch up but Aldo circles away and keeps his distance. Aldo moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Aldo connects with a good right hand that stumbles Ward. Ward circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Aldo misses with a double jab.
Ward tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Aldo manages to circle out of the way. A punch combination from Aldo misses. Aldo throws a body punch but Ward moves out of range. Aldo throws a series of punches but Ward moves out of range. Ward swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Aldo.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ward blocks a jab. Ward tries to clinch up but Aldo circles away and keeps his distance. Aldo lands with a cross. Ward fails with an attempt to clinch.
Aldo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ward moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ward moves out of range of the leg kick from Aldo. Aldo is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Ward rather than just go for the knockout. A slow jab from Aldo misses its intended target. Aldo looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Ward lands with a hook. Aldo tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Aldo scores with a decent looking hook. Aldo works Ward's body with a nice hook. Ward digs a good hook to Aldo's body.
Aldo digs a good body shot into Ward's ribs. Aldo pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ward back to the cage. Aldo follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ward throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Aldo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Aldo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Ward tries to counter by clinching up but Aldo breaks away and moves out of range. Ward keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Aldo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ward looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Ward tries to clinch but fails miserably and Aldo counters with a nice leg kick. Ward doesn't manage to clinch there - Aldo circles away.
Aldo slips a straight right by Ward. A slapping leg kick lands for Aldo.
Aldo changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Aldo throws a right and a left that Ward avoids nicely. Aldo takes a swing at Ward's ribcage but misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jose Aldo dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Aldo ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Aldo lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Aldo. Aldo's corner calls for a 1-2. Aldo obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Ward is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Aldo throws a hook but Ward blocks it. Aldo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A shot to the liver by Aldo. Beautiful body shot. Ward uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Aldo has time to react. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ward fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Aldo looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. That's one minute gone in the round. Aldo throws a right hand that Ward ducks under and follows up with a left that Ward also avoids with ease. Aldo misses with a head kick.
Ward throws a lazy uppercut
and Aldo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Decent striking displayed by Ward there. Aldo scores with a shot to the body.
Aldo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Ward might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far. Aldo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Ward has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ward is trying to pull guard but Aldo turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Aldo struggles to land a body shot inside as Ward controls his hands.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ward managing to block the knees to the body from Aldo.
Ward jumps guard but Aldo turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Neal Ward. That's going to take a lot out of him. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Ward as Aldo tries to tie him up. Aldo looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Ward has Aldo pressed against the cage, preventing Aldo from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Aldo wants to break free but Ward has control.
Ward blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Ward misses with some punches.
