Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jiri Necas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Oskar Maciejewski! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Maciejewski, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Necas tries to clinch but Maciejewski moves out of range. Necas drives through and clinches with Maciejewski against the cage.
Necas can't break the clinch.
Maciejewski is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Necas has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Maciejewski is trying to keep an underhook but Necas manages to get the takedown into half guard. Necas looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Necas working over Maciejewski with some ground and pound. Maciejewski looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Necas missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Maciejewski wants to stand back up but Necas manages to pass into side control.
Maciejewski is trying to get back to half guard. Necas lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Maciejewski down.
Necas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Necas moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Maciejewski tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Maciejewski tries to roll but Necas sticks to his back.
Necas throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Maciejewski!
Maciejewski wants to control his opponent's hands but Necas gets his hands free. Necas biding his time, looking for the opening.
Necas is landing with strikes. Maciejewski can't take much more of this. Necas could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Necas is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Maciejewski taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Necas.
