The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melet closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hendricks quickly recovers to half guard.
Melet wants to work for an arm triangle but Hendricks is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Melet is looking for a kimura but Hendricks is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Melet to get the leverage.
Melet is trying to work for a kimura but Hendricks is defending well.
Melet is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hendricks is just riding it out for now. Melet eventually gives up the hold.
Melet seems to be looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hendricks tries to kick Melet off but Melet keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
