PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sean Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Leroy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leroy has chosen Lunatic Fringe as his entrance music. Sean Hughes has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sean Hughes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bruce Leroy!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Leroy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Leroy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hughes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Leroy tries to avoid it but Hughes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Leroy to the ground. Leroy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hughes fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hughes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Leroy as he avoids it easily.

Leroy rushes Hughes and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Leroy is pressed up against the cage. Hughes has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Leroy down to the mat. Leroy avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Hughes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Leroy's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Leroy can do anything to dispel that myth.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Leroy wants a takedown.
Leroy is trying to break the clinch but Hughes has him pressed against the cage.

Hughes has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Leroy clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Hughes shoots for a double leg takedown but Leroy sprawls well. He's pushed Hughes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sean Hughes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hughes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hughes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Leroy manages to get himself to full guard.
Hughes content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hughes accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bruce Leroy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
