Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Akira Mahalo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Greenway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matt Greenway is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Akira Mahalo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Greenway! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mahalo uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Mahalo fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Greenway looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Mahalo looks to land a combination but Greenway avoids it well. Mahalo shoots in but no luck this time. Mahalo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Greenway defends it nicely. Greenway is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Mahalo. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Greenway has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Mahalo lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
That's one minute gone in the round. Greenway fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mahalo to the ground. Greenway is now in Mahalo's guard. Greenway looks winded! Greenway distracts Mahalo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Mahalo working a defensive guard here.
Greenway slips nicely into half guard. Greenway looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Greenway lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Mahalo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mahalo tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Greenway slips a nice elbow through Mahalo's hands, connecting with Mahalo's forehead. Mahalo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Greenway on the ground. Mahalo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Greenway working the head and body with strikes. Greenway perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Mahalo won't allow Greenway to pass to mount. Mahalo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Mahalo is looking for a sweep. Greenway is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Greenway looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Greenway seems to be working for a kimura but Mahalo defends the submission attempt. Greenway content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Greenway is thwarting Mahalo's attempts to control the position. Greenway is trying to work for a kimura but Mahalo is defending well.
Greenway works his foot free and advances to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Greenway working Mahalo over with strikes here. Mahalo wants to hold on but Greenway pushes him away. Greenway jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mahalo manages to avoid the submission attempt. Greenway has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Greenway tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Greenway wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mahalo, who protects the arm well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matt Greenway dominated that round. That's time! Mahalo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Jab from Mahalo. Greenway drops his hands momentarily and Mahalo takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Greenway throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mahalo was covering up waiting for the punch and Greenway finishes the takedown easily into guard. Mahalo controls Greenway momentarily but Greenway frees himself. Greenway is breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Greenway avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Greenway seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Greenway sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mahalo's guard. Greenway looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mahalo with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Mahalo keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Matt Greenway has got the better of the ground game so far. Greenway content to control rather than advance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Mahalo is trying to control but can't.
Mahalo is in trouble now - Greenway has advanced to mount! Mahalo tries to hold on but Greenway pushes him away. Mahalo is in a horrible position here. Greenway smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Mahalo wants to control but Greenway is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Greenway throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Mahalo has his hands clasped together but Greenway breaks the hold and Mahalo is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Greenway!
