The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Papadopoulos tries to clinch up.

Wallace replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Papadopoulos blocks it well.
Papadopoulos throws a sloppy head kick and Wallace moves out of range easily.

Wallace is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Papadopoulos with a body shot.
Papadopoulos drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Papadopoulos shoots in for a takedown but Wallace shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lavrentis Papadopoulos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Papadopoulos shoots in looking for a takedown. Wallace tries to sprawl out of it but Papadopoulos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wallace manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Papadopoulos takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Lavrentis Papadopoulos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wallace throws a chopping leg kick but Papadopoulos manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Wallace has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Papadopoulos is trying to keep an underhook but Wallace manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Wallace is nestled in close to Papadopoulos, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

My spies in Cozad MMA St Petersburg inform me that Wallace has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
