Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stevie McGordon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Black Jack! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Alyssa Summers and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGordon avoids a punch combination nicely.
McGordon closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jack quickly recovers to half guard. We've been hearing good reports from McGordon's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. McGordon stalling away here and it's allowed Jack to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. McGordon with a flurry of punches that miss. Jack working for a triangle but McGordon defends it easily.
Jack looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. McGordon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jack has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McGordon has managed to get both his arms back between Jack's legs - danger averted. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jack looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
McGordon forces his way into half guard. McGordon missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGordon tries to stand and escape but Jack is controlling the position. Jack is trying to control but can't.
McGordon looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jack looking for submissions off his back. McGordon tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jack knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. McGordon wants to stand up but Jack is controlling the position.
Jack is refusing to be controlled, as McGordon sits in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Jack looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Jack looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Jack regains full guard. Nicely done. McGordon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jack swivels though and keeps the full guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McGordon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. McGordon throws a big elbow that misses. Jack has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think McGordon should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Jack has tightened it up now! McGordon should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
