Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryo Yoshida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pascual Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perez has chosen Another One Bites The Dust as his entrance music. Pascual Perez has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ryo Yoshida's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryo Yoshida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Pascual Perez!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yoshida shoots in for a takedown but Perez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Perez clinches.
Perez tries to score a body lock takedown but Yoshida shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Perez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Perez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Perez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yoshida doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yoshida manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Perez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Perez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Yoshida avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Yoshida working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yoshida trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Perez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Perez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Perez controls Yoshida momentarily but Yoshida frees himself.
Yoshida with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Perez preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Yoshida drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Yoshida jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Perez has his hands on Yoshida's head, controlling the position.
Yoshida lands a couple of digs.

Yoshida is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Perez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Yoshida has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Yoshida is looking to work some ground and pound but Perez has wrist control.
Yoshida in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Perez is looking for a triangle but Yoshida pushes his legs off easily.

Yoshida thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Yoshida looking to pass the guard.
Yoshida stands and throws Perez's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Yoshida creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Perez sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Yoshida working away.
Yoshida in side control, throwing shots but Perez defends.
Perez regains half guard.

Yoshida is looking for a kimura but Perez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Yoshida to get the leverage.

Yoshida is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Perez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Yoshida.
Perez wants to control but Yoshida is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Perez tries to roll over but Yoshida keeps him under control.
Perez works his way to full guard. Good work.
Our spies down at at The Factory inform us that Perez has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Yoshida postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Perez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Yoshida, into his guard.

Yoshida has his foot on Perez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Perez works his way back into a safe position though.

Yoshida had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Perez defends it easily.
Perez trying to control the position from guard on top but Yoshida is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Perez is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Yoshida has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Perez is looking to defend but Yoshida has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Perez! Yoshida pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Perez taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ryo Yoshida!
