Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Diego Batista (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Kopperman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diego Batista!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chad Kopperman!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batista throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kopperman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kopperman moves in looking to clinch but Batista pushes him off.
Batista avoids the head kick by Kopperman.
Kopperman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Batista but Batista pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Kopperman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Batista lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kopperman!
Kopperman tries to control Batista's body but Batista pushes him off. Kopperman squirms to his side and now Batista has his back!
Batista trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

Kopperman holding both Batista 's hands and preventing any damage.
Kopperman is really stuck here.
Kopperman is trying to get back to his feet but Batista has full control of the position and if anything, Kopperman has just worked his way into a worse spot.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Batista is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Batista gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Batista gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Batista apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Batista really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kopperman is looking to clinch but Batista is avoiding it.

Batista keeps control of Kopperman as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Kopperman looks gassed!

Batista successfully pulls guard.
Kopperman stopping the sweep attempt from Batista.
Batista is pulling down on Kopperman's head. It's preventing any offense from Kopperman, at least for the moment.

Batista trying to control the position.
Batista is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Batista is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Kopperman gets to his feet - Batista follows without any prompting.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Batista clinches up against the cage.
Kopperman wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Batista has him pressed against the cage.
Nice body punch from Batista.
Batista tries to pull guard but Kopperman holds him up against the cage and eventually Batista drops back down to his feet.
Kopperman has had enough of the clinch but Batista keeps him there for the moment.
Batista content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Kopperman is fighting off a takedown attempt but Batista is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kopperman to the mat. Kopperman regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Batista decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kopperman, up you get!
The fight stays on the outside here - Batista looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Batista feints and as Kopperman raises his hands in defense, Batista changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Batista wants to control from the top but Kopperman keeps moving.
Batista stays in close to Kopperman's body and controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Batista shoots for a takedown but Kopperman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kopperman lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

and Batista decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kopperman's guard.

Kopperman moves in looking to clinch but Batista pushes him off.
Kopperman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kopperman gets caught flat footed, as Batista shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Batista's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Diego Batista overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kopperman throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Kopperman has his foot on Batista's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Batista works his way back into a safe position though.

Kopperman not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Batista wants to control from the top but Kopperman keeps moving.
Kopperman is looking to stand up but Batista isn't so interested in that idea.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Batista decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kopperman's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Batista gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Kopperman lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Batista at a distance.
Batista shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kopperman counters with a nice uppercut.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Diego Batista. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Batista ducks under a wild hook from Kopperman.

Batista darts in and clinches Kopperman up against the cage.
Kopperman is trying to break free.

Batista decides to pull guard.

Batista has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kopperman off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Kopperman wants to clinch but Batista slips to the side

and Batista counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Kopperman will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Batista gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Kopperman throws a head kick but Batista moves out of range.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kopperman is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kopperman wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Batista is now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!



Batista shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Kopperman swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Batista trying to control but Kopperman is having none of it.
Batista tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
You get the feeling that Kopperman really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Batista prevents Kopperman from getting the reversal.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kopperman is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Batista has taken his back.
Kopperman is covering up but some of the strikes from Batista are getting through and doing damage.
Kopperman tries to escape but Batista has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Batista is looking for the choke from the back position but Kopperman is controlling his hands well.
Batista is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kopperman can do to turn this around?

Batista has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kopperman has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kopperman is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.
Kopperman closes the distance but Batista moves to the side

and Batista counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Diego Batista is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Batista slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Diego Batista showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Batista, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
