Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between VJ Lamban (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Smakota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexander Smakota has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, VJ Lamban! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alexander Smakota! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smakota defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lamban. Lamban fails with the takedown and Smakota counters with a big head kick but Lamban shrugs it off. Nice sprawl there from Smakota as Lamban shoots in. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Smakota! But no joy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for VJ Lamban. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lamban shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smakota pinned against the cage. Smakota gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. And Smakota tries to counter it with a takedown but Lamban pushes his down on his head and steps out. Lamban fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Smakota to the ground. Lamban is now in Smakota's guard. Lamban preventing the sweep. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lamban stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smakota swivels though and keeps the full guard. Smakota throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lamban slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. You can see the frustration on Smakota's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Lamban tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Lamban working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Smakota prevents Lamban from improving position. Lamban works to advance to full mount. Smakota defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smakota stops Lamban from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Lamban jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Smakota manages to avoid the submission attempt. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Lamban moves into full mount! Smakota is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lamban is looking to work his way around to Smakota's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Smakota really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lamban. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Smakota is trying to escape the mount but Lamban keeps good control and instead manages to take Smakota's back.
Lamban has his arm under Smakota's chin here. Game over son! Lamban squeezes tightly and Smakota is forced to tap out!
